Bellevue Fire Station 10 is the first new station for the city in nearly 30 years. The design creates a healthy environment for emergency responders living and working within the building, restores a compromised wetland and remediates a brownfield site. A 20,000 square foot five-bay fire and EMS station, it will serve as the city’s primary emergency response station serving the downtown area. A communal living, kitchen, and dining area, as well as bunk rooms, are located with views of the adjacent forest and wetland.
Envisioned as a civic amenity, the station balances public and secure areas to provide opportunities for engagement with the community. The southern end of the apparatus bay facing McCormick Park includes a training tower and hydrant for open air ladder and hose exercises. The entry gallery will feature artifacts from Bellevue Fire’s history, while a training classroom opens to views of the park and downtown.
