you know that picture of me you took when our love was new?
where I’m wearing the orange dress, sat under the trees and the fairy lights of the old cafe
there, you captured more than just my face
what you caught was a version of me that has only ever existed with you, in “us”
there was a brightness in my eyes that I’d never seen before, that dimmed when you suddenly left me
that sparkle was of your reflection looking back at me, because you were my moon…
but maybe that was evidence of your presence reflecting the light of my sun.
will that version of me die with “us”?
i hope she comes back around and stays put.
