"Dreaming from the Waist" is a song by The Who, written by Pete Townshend and released on the group's 1975 album The Who by Numbers (reissued in 1996); it also served as the B-side of the "Slip Kid" single, released in 1976 in the United States. The track's lyrics deal with sexual frustration and the restlessness associated with getting older (Townshend had turned 30 in 1975), while the music features a bass solo from John Entwistle.

A live version recorded in Swansea, Wales on 12 June 1976 appears on the reissue of The Who by Numbers and the Thirty Years of Maximum R&B box set, while the 9 December 1975 version from Cleveland was included in the Thirty Years of Maximum R&B Live video and DVD. In an interview from Thirty Years of Maximum R&B Live, Townshend declared "Dreaming from the Waist" as one of his least favorite songs to play onstage (referring to it as a "fresh turd" at the conclusion of song's performance at the band's one-off show at Kilburn in December 1977); in humorous contrast, John Entwistle, claimed in the same series of interviews that "Dreaming from the Waist" was one of his favorite songs to perform.

Lyrics At Least Were Dreaming  Eve6

Eve 6 always brings substance and great sound to the table. He needs "someone" or I think "something" to help bring him out of his hole and away from all the daily bull shit. He says, "At least we're dreaming" which if you think about something for a second, it is a sign of sanity to dream. He is saying he is thankful to still be healthy and living. It's most definitley an uplifting song that you can play loud as shit.

i think this is about a young couple moving into together and possibly realizing they arnt happy and they both deal with in different ways. the guy by buying and doing drugs and the girl by sleeping around and their only source of happiness is dreaming of a better life and hoping that one day it will be better for them

Just wanted to note that the lyrics are off. In the second chorus he says "At least you're dreaming" and after that its "At least we're dreaming" I agree with kuzunoha on the meaning. Its a happy song. =D

He has no direction in life, he has no idea what's going on. But at least he's still going, and at least he still has his dreams and ambitions. There's still some sort of light at the end of that proverbial tunnel.

in my opinion this is a pretty strait forward song just about how theres going to be bad shit that happens, you'll have bad days and an apartment that you hate but as long as your alive and as long as you keep dreaming everything will be alright. i'm not sure how the drugs come into play... maybe thats his way of staying alive, but i feel its a song of hope. just stay alive and we're gonna be alright.

When you think of the American Dream, what do you think of? For some, John Mellencamp's "Little Pink Houses" exemplifies many of the ideals related to the American Dream. As you watch the video below, think about the images presented both in the song lyrics and the video. How do these images relate to your understanding of the American Dream?

3. Have students develop at least one example of figurative language to include in their lyrics. They can start by writing a line with literal language and then brainstorm how to revise this line using a simile, metaphor, personification, or another literary device.

There are many ideas. One is that dreams may have an evolutionary function, to test us in scenarios that are important to our survival. This might explain why people often report being chased or attacked in their dreams. Alternatively, they may act to soothe the harsh impact of emotional trauma. On the other hand, many people have attested to the power of dreams for spurring creative thought, like Paul McCartney dreaming the melody to Yesterday (on waking, he improvised lyrics so as not to forget the tune), and Dmitri Mendeleev dreaming up the structure of the periodic table of elements. There is experimental support for the idea, with studies showing that people score better on tests of creativity after naps consisting of REM sleep.

To those of us from the continent who had parents or grandparents who lived through colonialism (and it can be argued in some cases are still living through it), this nostalgia that privileged white people have for colonial Africa is awkwardly confusing to say the least and offensive to say the most [...] She should absolutely be able to use any location as a backdrop. But she packages our continent as the backdrop for her romantic songs devoid of any African person or storyline, and she sets the video in a time when the people depicted by Swift and her co-stars killed, dehumanized, and traumatized millions of Africans. That is beyond problematic.

The little bird, frightened by the bird cage

Changed nothing, did nothing but cried

The one that is trapped is the heart

Even if it didn't run away, it forgot how to sing on the spot

Gazing at the broken wing won't bring back it's original state

What can be done with what has been left

In the palm of my hands must be assured

It cannot accomplish the task of flying to that place

In that case, at least let this singing voice reach it

Even if I might not become a goddess that can heal all it's wounds

It will find the peace like when the sunlight filters through the leaves

There is nothing to fear, the you who is on the other side of the blue sky

And I am singing to you, to you

The little bird, frightened by the bird cage, changed nothing, did nothing but cried

The one that is trapped is the heart, even if it didn't run away, it forgot how to sing on the spot

Gazing at the broken wing won't bring back it's original state

What can be done with what has been left in the palm of my hands must be assured

The prayer made to the sky blindly has been lost to the place where no one can reach

Accustomed to holding my hands together, I forgot to take hold of the thing I wish for

I can no longer fly up to the great sky

But I want my voice to reach it's maximum and resonate

Because the scenery in the dreams is always the same, I wish to see your smile once again!

Though it surely won't just be an enjoyable event, you can reach the happy ending if you run through it

I hold my trembling knees together, calling for you to come to me: a new tomorrow, a new tomorrow

I will do it no longer because of my broken wings

Holding tightly onto the remaining seeds of hope in the palm of my hands, now I shall sing

It cannot accomplish the task of flying to that place

But please, at least let this singing voice reach it!

Even if I might not become a goddess that can heal all it's wounds

It will find the peace like when the sunlight filters through the leaves

There is nothing to fear, the you who is on the other side of the blue sky

And I am singing to you, to you

In the following lines, the speaker states that he tries to hold on to the particles of sand to save at least a few of them from the waves, but he is just not able to, no matter how much he prays to his God. It is when he realizes that it is nothing but a dream within a dream that he is living.

So, I take stock of all the details I noticed about all the people and the apartment itself, and I consider the possible interpretations, but it takes only a moment or so for me to be reminded and to embrace the words of one of my greatest teachers, which are the lyrics of Bob Dylan. And I start to sing:

Seeing all your interpretations to this song, I can only agree to them halfway.

Because of the title itself- at least it was here.

I think this song tells about a relationship between people who lost love to each other and decided to do all they can to make things work out and they did. But only for as long as they can because in the end all they could say is AT LEAST IT WAS HERE..

right??

--just my thoughts..^^

I'd rather be dreaming than talking

There's nothing to hear or to say

With ears covered, mouth closed

The world is opposed

Nothing gets in or away

There's nothing to hear ot to say be457b7860
