About Us
About Us
In 2001, we retired from university positions in the United States and moved to Greece. Christos is a native of Greece and lived in Athens until his late teens, when he matriculated in a U.S. university. Kathy is a native of Iowa.
We met at Iowa State University, were married at the end of our studies, and moved to Athens, where we lived for six years, from 1966 to 1972. After that, we moved back to the U.S. for graduate studies and subsequent teaching careers in Iowa, Mississippi, North Carolina and Louisiana, but we spent each summer in Greece.
Chris is an architect and was a university professor and administrator. His last position was as Dean of the College of Art and Design at Louisiana State University.
Kathy is a photographer and was a university professor of mass communication. Her last position was as a visiting lecturer at LSU.
We have one son, Argyrios, born in 1983. He is a lawyer, married to Rebecca Teng, an ob-gyn physician. They live in Austin, Texas, and have one son, Chris.
In addition to designing and building our home on Kythnos, Christos designs furniture and has made many of the furnishings for our abodes. Other creative activities are the making of sculptures and writing of poems. Kathy’s photographic endeavors span from documentary black-and-white images to fine art to digital catalogs of wildflowers.
In 2025, Christos published a memoir titled In the Footsteps of Epicurus. It is available at amazon.com
