Sabiar Rahaman was born and brought up in West Bengal, India. Currently, he is a Marie Skłodowska-Curie PhD researcher in the Department of Physics & Astronomy at the University of Manchester, with strong research interests in physics and nanoscience. His research focuses on understanding the confined transport of water and ions in nanoconfinement. His work aims to advance next-generation nanofluidic technologies with potential applications in fluidic memristors, ion-gating, desalination, osmotic energy harvesting, and flow sensing.
Previously, he was a Commonwealth Scholar at the Department of Chemistry, University of Manchester, where he studied ion transport through angstrom-scale capillaries based on two-dimensional materials. Prior to this, he worked as a junior and later as a senior research fellow at CeNS, India, where his research focused on next-generation energy storage devices.
His broader research interests lie at the intersection of nanofluidics, condensed matter physics, materials science, and neuromorphic ionic systems, with a vision to translate fundamental physical insights into scalable technologies for energy, sensing, and unconventional computing applications.
