Idea of urbanization stands under the umbrella of having resilient and sustainable urban infrastructure, that can insure the availability of critical resources. Water being one of the critical resource, needs to be made sustainable and resilient to meet both domestic and commercial requirements in an urban infrastructure. To make water resources sustainable we need to perform modeling and simulation of water in an urban infrastructure. Agent based (AB) and System Dynamics (SD) modeling and simulation technique will be used for forecasting demand profile of household water. Pakistan being water stressed country needs to take steps in effective management and conservation of water resources. In order to achieve the above-mentioned objective, it is necessary to know what is our actual demand and how we can manage to fulfill our demand.
Simulation Modeling, Analysis and Forecasting of Electricity generation and consumption in Pakistan using System Dynamics approach
The SD based simulation provides a framework and a tool for conceptual modeling, simulation and visualization of the future demand and supply of electricity energy in Pakistan. It further allows the modelers to conceptualize and abstract main entities, influencing factors, key parameters and system variables and the dynamic phenomena that have an impact on the demand and supply in any form and investigate their causes and effects using different initial configurations and experimental settings. Our System Dynamics based simulation framework for electricity demand and supply is useful in forecasting future energy demand and therefore plays a very significant role in electric energy planning.
