Monica, meanwhile, is flipping out because she promised Chandler they would open their wedding gifts together, but can't as he's still not home. When her curiosity gets the best of her, she opens a tiny one which contains a salt shaker. Hoping to complete the set, she opens the second one, which is roughly the size of a beach ball. She continues opening presents with uncommon ecstasy. Phoebe scares Rachel from telling the father when she remarks how her confession will change the father's life completely, something which Rachel doesn't want as she believes she's ready to raise her child by herself.
Rachel is still intent not to tell who the father is, but when Joey suspects something, Phoebe sticks with her story from the wedding that she is pregnant. Joey is incredibly happy for Phoebe but equally sad that she'll be raising her kid without a father, so he proposes to fix things - by proposing to Phoebe, who accepts. Monica tells Joey that it's Rachel who's pregnant, and how she and Phoebe know about this but don't know anything about the father. This sparks something in Joey's mind, who at his apartment, finds a red sweater which he has had for a month and believes is the father's. This, in turn, is a revelation for Phoebe, who exclaims how she knows who the father is.
At the reception, Ross and Chandler take tons of pictures where they try to integrate in the wedding, including one with Ross making a toast on stage (ending up warning a guest that his '95 blue-green LeSabre to move his car before it gets towed) and Chandler kissing a totally unknown bride, a picture after which Ross and Chandler run for their lives. Phoebe drags Rachel to Central Perk, where she has arranged for the father to be. Rachel, still unsure about telling the father, enters, and finds Tag in front of her. Phoebe pulls out the red sweater Joey found at his apartment, but it turns out it's not Tag's, who unzips his jacket to reveal his red sweater. Deeply embarrassed, Phoebe leaves the two alone, and Tag takes the opportunity to hold her hand try and get back together with Rachel, who loses no time in telling him that she's bearing child. Tag drops her hand and remains speechless until she gives him permission to leave.
At the apartment, Monica has finished opening all of the gifts (including Joey's parents', which according to Joey, "does something to salami"). Joey, who now knows that Rachel is pregnant, proposes to her in front of Phoebe, who does not take kindly to this. Unlike Phoebe, however, Rachel refuses to marry Joey. The group is joined by Chandler and Ross, who show the pictures to Monica. Surprisingly, Monica pulls the real disposable cameras out of one of her bags. Although she's not amused to see Chandler kissing another woman, he's quite annoyed to find all the presents opened. Determined to start the marriage on the right foot, however, the two call it even. Ross is about to leave, when he spots the red sweater. He then claims that it's his, much to Monica and Phoebe's shock. He then leaves as Monica and Phoebe realize that he is the father of Rachel's baby. Joey, slow as ever, takes a minute to work this out, and is just as shocked as the others.
Ross later runs into Tag on the street, both of them wearing their red sweaters. Tag indirectly references Rachel's pregnancy and asks whose baby it is, but Ross believes he is talking about the sweater and leaves thinking Tag is weird.
Everybody thinks Monica is pregnant, but her denial quickly shifts the focus to Phoebe, who claims she is pregnant to cover for Rachel, the one who is expecting. When Monica realizes it is Rachel, she and Phoebe have her take an additional test to confirm it. Phoebe initially says the new test is "negative" causing Rachel to be sad and disappointed by the different result. Phoebe then says it is positive and that Rachel now knows how she truly feels about having a baby. Chandler surprises Monica by having taken dance lessons for their wedding reception, but his slippery shoes leave him with two left feet. Joey tries to impress Mrs. Bing's date, a Broadway director. Ross meets a beautiful woman named Mona at the reception. He switches his seating number to her table, but mixing up the number, he ends up at the children's, then has to dance with the little girls, which impresses Mona.
Phoebe dates a guy who works for Monica, causing a problem when Phoebe wants to dump him on the same day Monica plans to fire him. Chandler's co-worker thinks his name is Toby. Rachel goes on a date with Joey's costar, Kash (Johnny Messner) despite being pregnant, and much to Ross' annoyance. Ross meets Mona again while at the coffee shop.
Chandler hires a maid to help Monica, but she soon suspects the maid is stealing her clothes. After getting Chandler to inspect a pair of jeans she is wearing that she thinks are hers, Rachel returns Monica's borrowed clothes. The maid quits, believing Chandler is a pervert. Eric wants to date Phoebe, but he is too reminded of Ursula. Ross attempts to secure the apartment of a dying Dutch woman for Rachel, while Joey wants Rachel to continue living with him.
Monica invites a high school friend, Will (Brad Pitt) to her Thanksgiving dinner. Rachel finds out that Ross and Will (who was fat and is now slim and gorgeous) started a rumor during their senior year about Rachel having both male and female "reproductive parts". Joey tries protecting the Tribbiani "family legacy" by eating an entire turkey. Chandler and Phoebe sit on the couch, watching a game to avoid helping Monica with the dinner clean up.
Phoebe determines through tea leaves that she will soon meet the man of her dreams. This leads to a disastrous date with a disturbing man, then a pleasant meeting with a charming one at the dry cleaners. Rachel invents a crazy work problem to reduce the awkwardness of hanging out with Joey since his confession about his feelings for her. Ross tries to retrieve his 'faded salmon' shirt from Mona's apartment.
Phoebe and Monica prepare for Rachel's baby shower and forget to invite Rachel's mother. During the shower, Monica tries desperately to seek forgiveness from Sandra, but to no avail. Rachel realizes she has no idea how to look after the baby after the birth, so her mother insists on staying with her for eight weeks, much to her and Ross' annoyance. Ross eventually gives Rachel the confidence to be a mom and Monica lets Sandra know she's furious at her spitefulness. Joey auditions for a job as a host for a new game show called Bamboozled that makes absolutely no sense, and Chandler and Ross help him practice.
Joey, Monica, and Phoebe discover a red sweater, realising that it belongs to the mysterious father of Rachel's baby. Chandler and Ross lose the wedding photos, and set about trying to take new ones.
The series setup the identity of the father to Rachel's baby as a big mystery, and here was our first major clue: a red sweater! The show had a lot of fun with that as they track down who it belongs it, including the misdirect of bringing back Tag.
With over two hundred episodes spread across ten seasons, Friends managed to deliver mostly outstanding, hilarious, and timeless episodes. The sitcom stands as one of televisions' most popular, and binge-worthy. Not even the passage of time seems to affect the significance and relatable nature of Friends, with the recent reunion episode only revitalizing things even further.
Still to this day people are re-watching Friends, referencing characters, events, and lines from the show, and discussing it with other fans. The highest-rated Friends episodes are often amongst the most popular with fans, but with so many fantastic ones to choose from, everyone has their own.
There's something for everyone in each episode, with all of the main characters having clear roles in each one. However, there are certain episodes that have become iconic over time, truly standing out and helping the show become the high-quality sitcom everyone knows it as today, and these are the highest rated Friends episodes, according to IMDb.
The beauty of this episode is that it is packed with mystery. The entire episode is all about audiences guessing who the father of Rachel's baby might be, with the only true clue being the red sweater, that the father left behind. This ends up being picked up by Ross, which provides an amazing reveal as fans realize he and Rachel got back together for at least a night.
New Year's Eve episodes of the show are often entertaining and "The One With All The Resolutions" was a great example of that. The episode is all about New Year's resolutions, as the title suggests, and the group all struggle to keep them from a very early point within the night.
However, the funniest part of this episode is all about Ross's leather pants. His decision to get them in order to be a bit different doesn't work out well for him in the long run. Seeing his struggles in getting them off is a scenario that brings some of the show's best physical comedy, with Ross trying all manner of ideas inside a bathroom during a date.
Jack and Judy Geller are two of the show's most entertaining supporting characters and they're at their best in this episode, reacting to all the chaos that's going on within the group. Rachel also hilariously tries to make a trifle but blends it with a meat dish which helps to create one of the most memorable episodes of the series.
The final episode of season five was an excellent one, which wrapped up the group's trip to Las Vegas, which is one of the best trips they take in the series. The episode features Ross and Rachel's inebriated adventures in Vegas which involved them getting married. Meanwhile, Phoebe has to deal with competitiveness when it comes to slot machines, which brings out a different side to her character.
