Week 5:
MID TERM EVALUATION
Midterm Evaluation - Algebra 2 Trimester 1
Your midterm evaluation will address the the following:
Mathematics
Can you:
Describe the set of natural numbers and how it is extended to form: the whole numbers, integers, rational numbers and real numbers
Perform basic operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division) with positive and negative whole numbers, fractions and decimals
Simplify square roots
Solve single variable linear equations
Make effective use of the TI-84 to do those things.
Evidence of your understanding will come from your folder of class work, an in-class assessment and observations of your work in class.
MID TERM FOLDER CHECK
An up-to-date folder will include:
“Fractions summary”
“Week 2 Part 1”
“Week 2 Part 2”
“Sections 1, 2, 3, 9, 10 comp practice (if applicable)
“Equation Review”
“Week 4 Review”
"Midterm Assessment"
With the work substantially completed and correct
I will also evaluate your Academic Disposition
Do you :
Take ownership for your learning
Ask questions when you are having difficulties
Participate constructively in class with positive contributions and insights
Work effectively both alone and when asked to work in a group
Complete assigned work to a high level of correctness, completeness and quality
See me after you miss a class to see what you may have missed
Take advantage of opportunities to extend your learning or receive support?

Important Announcement
We will be having a cumulative trimester exam in Algebra 2 on November 18 (D period) and November 19 (E period). To sit for the exam students will have to have correctly completed the following problems sets by Monday November 18, 9:00 AM:
“Equation Review”
“Week 4”
“Week 5”
“Week 6”
“Week 7”
“Week 8”
“Week 9”
“Week 10” (to be handed out this week)
Their midterm assessment corrected
A hard copy of each of these problems sets was handed out when they were assigned. They also live in a folder linked from the Homework Hub. Students may also compete them on Delta Math.
Correctly completed means that all assigned problems have been completed, checked, and where necessary, corrected.
The exam is open notes/open folder and will cover the following topics:
Operations with positive and negative whole numbers, fractions and decimals including simplifying radicals.
Solving single variable linear equations and inequalities
Calculating slope, graphing straight lines and finding intercepts
Solving linear inequalities
Solving systems of linear equations
Using laws of exponents to simplify expressions
Adding, subtracting and multiplying binomials and polynomials
Translating words to equations or expressions
Students may use graphing calculators. They will not have access to Desmos. To earn credit they will need a score greater than 65% on the exam in addition to completing the work listed above.

Midterm Assessment in class
"Am I on track for credit in Algebra 2?"
Can you answer yes to the following:
I have completed the seven problems sets listed above; complete means you have done each problem (on paper or in Delta Math) and if done on paper, checked it against the answer keys in classroom and if necessary corrected mistakes
have earned at least 60% on the two in-class assessments (one will be given the week of April 14) and if not, made corrections and/or completed a retake
Completed the daily questions each time the class has met
