Hello! My name is Ryan and I am a currently a Staff Economist at the White House Council of Economic Advisers (CEA). At the CEA, I work on issues relating to financial markets, energy markets, and macroeconomics. I am on leave from my economics PhD program at the University of Washington, where my research interests are at the intersection of macroeconomics and finance. Put simply, I'm interested in how Wall Street affects Main Street.
I currently reside in the Adams Morgan neighborhood of DC, and while in Seattle, lived in the center of the universe--Fremont. Before graduate school, I lived in Washington, D.C. for four years, working at NERA Economic Consulting in the Securities and Finance practice where I worked on a wide variety of cases primarily involving market manipulation. While working at NERA, I also completed a Masters in Applied Economics with a concentration in financial economics at Johns Hopkins University. I did my undergraduate at DePaul University in Chicago, majoring in economics and minoring in mathematics and business administration.
When I'm not doing schoolwork or teaching, I enjoy playing basketball, running, swimming, biking, surfing (when I get the chance--which is not often!), and snowboarding. As a native New Mexican, I am a connoisseur of good burritos and of course, Hatch Green Chile.
