I have seen a couple of older posts around smart garage door openers, but would love to see if there are any alternatives to the Chamberlain MyQ that I have. I do know I can have an assistant routine set up to close the garage door, but the limitations are there which do not allow me to open.

I have a Meross garage door opener. It works great. I have a Google routine set up that when I press a button on the Android Auto home screen, presto, the garage door closes. You know, like you'd expect it should.

I have the Meross set up so I can open it from SmartThings in Android Auto. To open it I need to click the SmartThings button to open that app and then navigate to the garage door button. Presto the door opens, and without much delay. But this takes a bunch of extra button presses which take my mind and eyes off driving.

I also have an opener in Android Auto using a Google Assistant routine. I click a button I added to the Android Auto home screen and it runs a routine called "Open Garage Door". After a pause of variable length, I'm asked to say my pin. After another delay I get the response "Ok. Opening Garage Door" and presto, it opens. Not the end of the world, but I have to start opening the garage blocks away from home... or wait on my driveway for everything to process... up to 30 seconds.

Finally, I don't want to buy new hardware (no new NFC pucks, garage door opener, rearview mirror with HomeLink, etc). I'd love to get this working with what I already have. After all, I could just look all retro and have the clicker stuck to my sun visor.

Is the garage door status correct in the Wyze app and through notifications, including when you open & close the door with the wall button? (The system will need about 10 seconds to notify you of door closed, and about 30 to notify you of door open)

Hey there, @JetRocket11! The MyQ tile addition should not slow down your Ring app. I recommend closing any other apps in the background other than Ring and MyQ, as well as ensuring vpn is disabled. Try also on wifi only, or cellular data only, to see if one connection is quicker than another. As you are using android, please check for any apps that might conflict with the Ring app. If this concern persists, the best next step will be to remove and reinstall the Ring app on your mobile device. I hope this helps!

The accessory is a universal remote with an extra signal cable soldered on it. You only need to pair the remote with your garage door opener. Once you can use the remote to control the garage door opener, you need to connect the remote to the device using the signal cables and launch the Meross app to set it up (Yellow learn button accessory and Other learn button accessory). Afterward, the smart garage door opener will work with your garage door opener.

Hi there!

I successfully created an Android screen widget for cover.toggle entity that can open/close my garage door. But it does not reflect current door status. Is it possible to change label/icon to reflect current door status?

Over the next few years, Google caught the attention of not only the academic community, but Silicon Valley investors as well. In August 1998, Sun co-founder Andy Bechtolsheim wrote Larry and Sergey a check for $100,000, and Google Inc. was officially born. With this investment, the newly incorporated team made the upgrade from the dorms to their first office: a garage in suburban Menlo Park, California, owned by Susan Wojcicki (employee #16 and former CEO of YouTube). Clunky desktop computers, a ping pong table, and bright blue carpet set the scene for those early days and late nights. (The tradition of keeping things colorful continues to this day.)

The #1 thing a smart garage door system needs to get right is reporting the door position. The Tailwind iQ3 Pro is the ONLY system on the market that includes a commercial-grade, all aluminum door sensor, providing rock-solid door position information.

Auto-open is convenience, safety, and security wrapped in luxury and it is so awesome we patented it. Our customers rave about feeling like a Super Hero as they arrive home and their garage door opens automatically.

I have several devices that do that locks, garage door, etc that google will not allow to be added. I am guessing this is by design because of security. Yells through door "ok google open garage door"

With mine I setup HomeBridge with a Raspberry Pi3, since I have Apple devices, and I just tell my watch using Siri to open/close the garage door. This works really well when working in the yard and not wanting to leave the garage door up, but that's another topic.

I also know that I can't tell my ghome to open garage by voice and have used virtual switch before to trigger garage opening by saying a specific phrase. I don't think that is the issue here, I had the controller on the Google home app through Smartthing prior.

I also had rules to autoclose the garage if I had left geofence for more than x minutes and it is open. I also have rules for ghome to notify me when garage is still open after 10pm. all these stuff happens at hub level and doesn't require ghome.

Edit: I excluded, power cycle, include, and manual open close garage. its still not allowing me to add it to ghome. I dont mind it showing as open/close contact in ghome. I just want to be able to check in it via voice command

Thanks. I was able to add it using the Google Home Community app but I can't get Google Assistant to give me status on the door via voice command such as "is the garage door open?" it says it can't be reached.

Had the same problem at 555 est doing the herd ride The bike was switched to MTB and even when I went to the garage and switched to a road bike would default to the mtb when returning to the game. Running zwift using an Apple TV with automatic updates

Many thanks

i am struggeling a lot with the setup for my garage door in Google Home.

As you can see below i have a KNX device with four channels: UP, DOWN, contact when open, contact when closed. In OH i mapped these to a rollershutter item with rules.

But wait, you can work around it.

For example for the temperature sensor you can make it a thermostat and you get the UI with the temperature and humidity (at least in the android version you also get the humidity).

I am not sure when it disappeared exactly, but I recall being able to see vehicles I had saved on the home page of the eBay app near the top. Now I do not see the garage at all, though I still see the garage when using the desktop version of the site to go to the Motors category.

Just like other smart systems, you can control your garage door with a fickle of a button. Read on to learn how to turn your phone into a garage door opener. In this article, we also highlighted the top five smart garage door openers to ease your decision-making process.

Compatibility with Siri or Alexa is the main thing people look for before purchasing a garage door opener for iPhone. Some models of iPhone may not work with the Bluetooth option, so it's vital to look out for other features that can replace this.

If you already have a garage door opener, it's vital to check if it is compatible with your smart opener. Simply connect the wires to the system (check label for directives) and plug it into an electric source.

A smartphone garage door works by utilising the sensors or wifi on your garage door rails that transmit signals to a supporting app on your smartphone, allowing you to remotely monitor activities around your garage, including when it was last opened or shut. Smart garage door openers can come in two forms:

Smart garage door opener systems provide an all-in-one solution to access your garage door. It comprises a belt rail and a garage door motor that will fit into your garage. You will need accessories such as a wall station and a transmitter to provide optimal performance.

Usually, a smart garage door system comes with an associated app where you can remotely control your garage door. Depending on the product, it may also have additional benefits, such as providing an aerial view of your garage. In addition, some products allow you to integrate the system into your smart home.

Smart door opener add-on accessories, however, are customised to be compatible with the current motorised garage door opener in your home. This depends on the garage door motor you use. Finding the right smart add-on accessories can be a hassle.

Most smart garage door add-on accessories include a sensor and controller for your garage. The sensor will be retrofitted to your garage door. It should be placed where it can easily send signals to the associated app. More information on this should be in the manufacturer's manual.

The controller should be attached to your current garage door opener using two wires (one for the open and the other for the close command nodes.) It is vital to have a strong wifi network connection when using smart garage door add-on accessories.

Knowing that you have controlled access to the activities around your garage gives you a sense of security. With a click of a button, you can open or shut your garage doors, turn off garage lights, and lots more. ff782bc1db
