RV Inspector Pro — Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 2026
RV Inspector Pro is designed with your privacy in mind. All data you enter — including your RV profile, maintenance logs, campground entries, checklists, scan history, and settings — is stored exclusively on your device using local storage. We do not collect, transmit, or share any personal information with third parties except as described below.
No account or registration is required to use the app. We do not use advertising SDKs or cloud sync services that would send your data off-device.
AI-Powered Features
When you use AI features, your query, photo, or message is sent to OpenAI's API for processing via our secure server. The following features transmit data:
- Damage Scanner / Photo Diagnostics — photos sent to OpenAI for damage assessment
- Label Scanner — appliance label photos sent to OpenAI to extract model and serial fields
- Receipt Scanner — service receipt photos sent to OpenAI to extract shop, date, cost, and service details
- VIN Scanner / OBD-II Error Code Scan — VIN numbers and codes sent to OpenAI for recommendations
- AI Maintenance Advisor, Fuel Coach, Service Summary, Packing List, Trip Debrief — anonymized text data sent to OpenAI for analysis and suggestions
- RV Buddy AI Assistant (available to all users, including free trial) — your typed messages and anonymized RV context (battery voltage, tank levels, upcoming maintenance items, current location if permitted, fuel log summary) are sent to OpenAI to generate personalized responses. This context is never stored on our servers and is discarded after the response is generated.
No identifying personal information from your RV profile (name, email, or VIN) is included in AI queries unless you type it yourself. Query data and photos are not retained beyond the duration of the API call, per OpenAI's data retention policy. See openai.com/privacy for OpenAI's data practices.
Free Trial AI Access: RV Buddy is available to all users, including free users, subject to a limited number of trial requests per calendar month. Trial request allowances are determined at our sole discretion and may be changed, reduced, or discontinued at any time without notice.
Fuel Price Data (U.S. Energy Information Administration)
The Trip Planner's Fuel Cost Estimator fetches current average national fuel prices from the U.S. EIA public API (eia.gov). No user data is transmitted — only a request for public pricing data is made. This feature reflects US average fuel prices only.
Subscription Management (RevenueCat)
This app uses RevenueCat to manage subscriptions. RevenueCat receives a device-generated anonymous identifier and your Google Play purchase receipt to verify your subscription status. RevenueCat does not receive your name, email, or any personal information from within the app. See revenuecat.com/privacy for their data practices.
Recall Lookups (NHTSA / Transport Canada)
Your VIN is sent to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) public API to retrieve recall data. Canadian users can also access Transport Canada's recall database at tc.gc.ca/recalls. See nhtsa.gov and tc.gc.ca for their respective data practices.
Map Services (OpenStreetMap)
When you search for campgrounds or dump stations, your search terms and approximate location (if you grant permission) are sent to Nominatim and the Overpass API, both operated by the OpenStreetMap Foundation. See osmfoundation.org/wiki/Privacy_Policy for their data practices.
Weather Data (Open-Meteo)
The Weather Card and Trip Planner Weather Alerts features send your GPS coordinates or destination city name to Open-Meteo's free public API for a local forecast. Coordinates are not stored by Open-Meteo. See open-meteo.com for their practices.

Recall Data (NHTSA & Transport Canada)
US Users: Recall information is sourced from the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) public database via api.nhtsa.gov.
Canadian Users: The in-app VIN lookup queries the NHTSA API. Canadian users should also check Transport Canada directly at tc.gc.ca/recalls for Canadian-specific recalls.
Recall data is provided "as is" and may not reflect the most recent safety campaigns or remedies. RV Inspector Pro is not affiliated with or endorsed by NHTSA or Transport Canada.

Community Campground Data
When you log a campground, certain information is anonymously shared with the RV Inspector Pro community. Specifically, the following fields are shared:
- Campground name and location
- Your star rating (1–5)
- Hookup types available
- Approximate cost per night
- Whether you would return
The following is NOT shared:
- Your personal notes
- Your name or identity
- Any information from your RV profile
- Your exact travel dates
Community submissions are anonymous. There is no account or login, and we do not intentionally link submissions to your identity. As with all web services, our server may retain standard access logs (including IP addresses) for a limited period for security purposes only — these logs are not used to identify you or associated with your campground submission. Costs displayed to other users are shown as approximate ranges, not exact dollar amounts.
By saving a campground entry, you agree to this anonymous sharing of the above fields. If you prefer not to share, you may disable network access on your device before saving.

Map & Location Data Attribution
Map tiles, campground locations, dump station data, and geocoding are sourced from OpenStreetMap and its contributors. OpenStreetMap data is © OpenStreetMap contributors and licensed under the Open Database License (ODbL). See openstreetmap.org/copyright.
The Trip Planner and Campground Finder use Nominatim (nominatim.openstreetmap.org) for geocoding and the Overpass API (overpass-api.de) for location searches. Map data may be incomplete or out of date — always verify campground and dump station availability before arrival. RV Inspector Pro is not affiliated with OpenStreetMap or the OpenStreetMap Foundation.

AI-Generated Content Disclaimer
RV Inspector Pro uses artificial intelligence to generate diagnostic tips, maintenance suggestions, label interpretations, service summaries, packing lists, trip debriefs, fuel coaching, and troubleshooting advice. This content is generated automatically and may not be accurate, complete, or applicable to your specific situation.
AI responses are not reviewed or verified by certified RV technicians or mechanics. AI-generated diagnoses should never replace a physical inspection by a qualified professional. Use of AI-powered features does not create a professional service relationship. RV Inspector Pro is not liable for any damages, losses, or injuries arising from reliance on AI-generated content.
Always cross-reference AI advice with your RV's owner manual and consult a licensed technician before performing repairs, especially for safety-critical systems (brakes, propane, electrical, structural).

Affiliate Disclosure
Product recommendations in the Power Calculator, Tire Size, and Fuel Cost tools are affiliate links directed to Amazon.com (US) or Amazon.ca (Canada) based on your device's region. When you make a qualifying purchase, we may receive a small referral commission at no additional cost to you.
Product recommendations are curated for relevance to RV owners and are not sponsored placements. We do not guarantee the availability, pricing, or quality of any recommended product. As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases.

Propane & Safety Disclaimer
Propane usage estimates shown in this app are approximations based on your logged fill-up history and self-reported tank levels. These estimates are NOT a substitute for physically checking your propane level using a gauge or scale, and should never be relied upon as the sole indicator of whether propane is available. Always visually inspect your propane tank before trips. Propane is a flammable gas — always follow your RV manufacturer's safety guidelines.
Bridge clearance references in this app are based on standard North American highway minimums and your self-reported RV height. This tool does NOT have access to real-time bridge clearance data and should be used as a general awareness tool ONLY — not for route navigation decisions. Always observe posted bridge clearance signs.
Maintenance reminders are for informational convenience only and are NOT a substitute for following your RV manufacturer's recommended maintenance schedule or consulting a qualified mechanic.
