This video really helped me understand all the things an interpreter must go through in order to convey a message without any misunderstanding. I personally did not know how they did to take those notes so fast in a certain language and translate it into another one. It makes sense for me now, that we can create different symbols for certain words in order to take notes faster and not miss any information that the sender is wanting to share. The practice that the teacher shared in the video was a really good tool to let us know where we are in the translating field, and it also encourages us to keep practicing. At first, when we had to write the numbers in roman numerals, I knew I was not going to do well because I’m not good at them as they confuse me. But it really made my brain work and I really liked it, because even though I was not good at it, I wanted to keep trying in order to get it right. When we had to write it with the beginning of the letter of each number, it was easier for me as they were normal letters. When she began explaining about how to take notes with the symbols, I thought it was a really good idea and amazing that each interpreter has their own symbols to make it easier, also the vertical way to take the notes is also a great advice because that way you get everything clearly and don’t miss any information.
