# Privacy Policy for Nex FileManager
**Effective date: September 6, 2026**
NextApps ("we," "us," or "our") provides Nex FileManager, an Android file manager. This Privacy Policy explains how Nex FileManager handles information when you use the app.
## 1. How Nex FileManager works
Nex FileManager is an on-device file manager. It processes files and folder metadata locally so you can browse, search, organize, open, share, copy, move, rename, create, and delete files. Nex FileManager does not require an account.
## 2. Storage access
On supported Android versions, Nex FileManager requests broad storage access because whole-device file browsing and search are core features. The permission request is shown only after an explanation and your action. You may deny or revoke access in Android Settings, but some features will then be unavailable. Android-protected locations and other apps' private storage remain restricted by Android.
## 3. Information stored on your device
Nex FileManager may store the following information locally on your device:
- A search index containing file paths, file and folder names, parent folders, extensions, MIME types, sizes, modification times, file classifications, and storage-volume identifiers.
- Trash records needed to restore or permanently delete items.
- Favorites, app preferences, and recent search terms.
- Derived thumbnails and temporary cache files.
- A limited recovery journal used to safely resume or recover interrupted file operations.
This locally stored information is not intentionally transmitted to NextApps or its servers. Clearing Nex FileManager's app data removes its databases, preferences, and cache, but does not delete your ordinary files. See the Trash information below for an important exception.
## 4. Advertising
Advertising is disabled in this release. Nex FileManager includes Yandex Mobile Ads support, but does not initialize the SDK or request ads until a production ad-unit ID is configured in a later release. Nex FileManager does not include Google Mobile Ads or perform a country/IP lookup to select an advertising provider.
If advertising is enabled in a future release, Yandex may process information such as your IP address, device and advertising identifiers, approximate location derived from your IP address, ad interactions, and diagnostic information according to its own policies. Nex FileManager does not intentionally send file contents, file or folder names, full file paths, search history, file hashes, or credentials to Yandex.
For more information, review the third-party policy:
- [Yandex Privacy Policy](https://yandex.com/legal/confidential/)
Yandex controls its own data processing, retention, and security practices.
## 5. Sharing and opening files
When you choose **Share** or **Open with**, Android gives the app you select temporary access to the chosen file through a secure content URI. The receiving app's privacy policy and practices then apply.
When you explicitly open an APK file, Nex FileManager hands it to Android's system package installer. Nex FileManager does not silently install applications or inspect the complete list of apps installed on your device.
## 6. Retention and your controls
The local search index, Trash records, favorites, preferences, recent searches, recovery data, and cache remain on your device until they are cleared, replaced, or removed through app controls, Android settings, or uninstallation. You can rebuild the search index in Nex FileManager's Settings.
For supported local storage, ordinary deletion moves files into a hidden Nex FileManager Trash area on the same storage volume. You can restore or permanently delete those items. Permanent deletion cannot be undone. Empty the Trash before uninstalling Nex FileManager: because trashed file data is stored in shared storage, Android may leave those hidden files on the device after the app and its Trash database are removed.
You can control Nex FileManager's storage access through Android Settings. You can also reset the Android advertising ID or adjust available advertising privacy controls in your device settings.
## 7. Security
Nex FileManager is designed to keep file contents and its search index on your device. However, no device, software, or method of electronic storage is completely secure. You are responsible for maintaining appropriate device security, backups, and screen-lock protection.
## 8. Children's privacy
Nex FileManager is a general-purpose file utility and is not directed specifically to children. NextApps does not knowingly collect children's file contents or locally indexed file metadata on its servers. Third-party advertising services may process data as described in their own policies and as permitted by applicable law and device settings.
## 9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when Nex FileManager's features, data practices, or legal obligations change. The revised policy will show a new effective date. Material changes may also be communicated in the app or through the app's store listing where appropriate.
