As part of my ongoing commitment to advancing science education, I proudly serve on the Coordination and Supervision of Science Teaching Committee of the National Science Teaching Association (NSTA). This important committee plays a vital role in ensuring that the interests of science coordinators and supervisors across the nation are effectively represented within the Association.
Each year, the committee reviews all NSTA policies, programs, and activities that pertain to the supervision and coordination of science instruction. Our work helps ensure that science education is consistently well-supported and aligned across grade levels, from kindergarten through higher education, by collaborating closely with other NSTA Division Committees focused on K–16 coordination.
The committee also responds to additional initiatives from the NSTA President or Board of Directors and has the authority to develop proposals that align with our mission, subject to board approval. As a member, I contribute to our semi-annual report to the NSTA Council, offering insights and recommendations to strengthen science teaching practices and leadership across the country.
Through this role, I am honored to help shape the future of science education and support the professional community of science supervisors and coordinators who are essential to quality teaching and learning in the field.
