Landscaping Day
Scouts and their families gathered at the Scout Building throughout the day on April 27th to refresh the landscaping. Between donations from our Scouting families and from the Borough of Runnemede, the RSC and Scout families were able to plant two flowerbeds alongside the building, two flowering cherry trees in the yard, and new garden around the flagpole. The Scouts have been coming together in the time since to keep the gardens watered and weeded.
Sir Robert Baden-Powell, the founder of the Boy Scouts, told Scouts to “try to leave this world a little better than you found it.” After a meeting with Sir Baden-Powell, Juliette Gordon-Lowe established the Girl Scouts of America, and the message of leaving the world a better place also carried over to the Girl Scouts. Runnemede's Scout groups are enacting this guideline in tending to our new plantlife.
We are excited to announce that our Scouting America and Girl Scout Troops will be returning to our town's Scout Building the week of March 23rd! This building was dedicated to Scouting in Runnemede in the 1950s and many generations of local youth have participated in activities there. After undergoing a renovation, the building will be reopening to provide the Scouts a place to meet. We are fortunate to have a dedicated meeting place for Scouting in Runnemede.
