Sustainable ageing, Healthy longevity
I am a demographer & spatial scientist, with specialisation in population ageing, mortality and well-being aspects. My core research perspective is demographic and spatial approaches to explore the interplay of health, place & environment across life course and regions. I am interested in future research opportunities focusing on SDG Goal 3 (Health & Well-being) and Goal 11 (Sustainable cities & communities).
I have submitted my PhD thesis in Population Studies at the International Institute for Population Sciences (IIPS), Mumbai, on mental health, cognitive capability, and subjective well-being among older adults in India. Currently, I am working as a researcher at Indian Climate Health Database (ICHD) at IIPS.
Trained in Geography and Population Studies, I specialize in spatial demography, population ageing, caregiving issues and health inequalities. Throughout my M.Phil & PhD work, I have gained expertise in handling large-scale sample data sets (LASI, DHS, WHO-SAGE etc.), data triangulations, and using statistical and econometric software like STATA, R, ArcGIS etc. with special expertise in formal demographic techniques (e.g., Advanced methods of life table construction).
I have received several academic recognitions, including the Dr. C. Chandrasekaran Gold Medal, UGC-JRF, and international travel grants from ICSSR, AHED, and IPUMS. I have presented my work at international platforms such as the Population Association of Singapore (PAS), Population Association of America (PAA), British Society for Population Studies (BSPS), Royal Geographical Society (RGS) & Australian Health Economic Society (AHES). My published work has appeared in BMC Public Health, Plos One, Ageing International and Indian Journal of Spatial Sciences.
