He is a Senior Policy Advisor for the United Nations Office in Argentina and a member of the editorial board of Computational Economics, the journal of the Society for Computational Economics.

He has taught Economics at the University of Texas at Austin (Texas, USA), Bryn Mawr College (Pennsylvania, USA), ITESM (Mexico), the Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences, the University of Buenos Aires, ISEG, Uade University, the National University of Quilmes and the National University of San Martin (Argentina).

He has been a Senior Economist and Director of the National Development Report at the United Nations Development Program, a Senior Economist at Wharton Econometrics Forecasting Associates, Chair for the Study of Western Hemispheric Trade at the Lozano Long Institute of Latin American Studies, and a Consultant for the World Bank, the Inter-American Development Bank, and the Argentine Government.

He is the author of the book Artificial Economics: methods, models, and interdisciplinary links, published by Cambridge University Press; is a co-author, with David A. Kendrick and Hans Amman, of the pioneering textbook Computational Economics, published by Princeton University Press; and he edited three books on Argentina's long run development.
