Induced Contrast Asynchronies

There are two circles flickering. Are right flickering and left flickering at the same time? Or is it disjointed?

Press the square button that says "Push" at the bottom. What will flickering look like?

When you press the button, the only thing that changes is the brightness around the circle. In other words, two circles flickering are actually always at the same time.
