Real-Time Coagulation Measurement

UCSB Senior Capstone Project | 2019-2020

In collaboration with Aptitude Medical Systems Inc.

The Problem

Coagulopathy is a condition in which the blood's ability to coagulate is impaired, which heightens resuscitation requirements, and leads to a 4x increased rate of mortality.

To minimize mortality, coagulopathy must be assessed and addressed nearest to the time of injury and monitored throughout the course of care.

The Solution

RTCM is a hand-held and temperature-controlled blood sensor that aims to quickly detect coagulopathy in a pre-hospital environment to guide personalized treatment for trauma patients.
