The IMPACT (Interdisciplinary, Mentorship, Practice, Applied, Community, Transformative) initiative is an interdisciplinary collaboration that engages undergraduate students from Engineering, Biology, Science, Occupational Therapy, Medicine, Alumni, Community healthcare partners and clients. It's run by multiple McMaster faculty members including Dr. Lovaye Kajiura, Dr. Shelir Ebrahimi, Dr. Brenda Vrkljan and more.

I was a part of the Science 2P03 course on Impactful initiatives in health where we investigate scientific literature and work with real clients to understand and address challenges experienced by people living with disabilities such as arthritis, multiple sclerosis, diabetic retinopathy, dementia, etc. During the course, we employ problem-based learning (PBL) and inquiry strategies to mobilize our knowledge and collaboratively work to create customized devices to help our clients with activities and improving their quality of life.
