Dr. Ehsan Jalivand

Postdoctoral Research Associate

Michigan State University

Ehsan Jalilvand is currently a research associate in Biosystems & Agricultural Engineering at Michigan State University (MSU), East Lansing, USA. Before joining the MSU, he was an Assistant Professor at Research institute for Earth Science (RIES) and adjunct Lecturer in Civil and Environmental Engineering faculty at Amirkabir University of Technology, Tehran, Iran. He received his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degree in water resources management from the Sharif University of Technology, Tehran, Iran, in 2012 and 2019, respectively. During his Ph.D., he spent 6 months as a visiting researcher at the Research Institute for Geo-Hydrological protection (CNR-IRPI), Perugia, Italy.

Ehsan research interest includes hydrologic modeling, remote sensing, data assimilation, and water resources engineering. In the past few years, he has been primarily focused on detecting irrigation signals in the satellite soil moisture data and assimilation of satellite soil moisture data with land surface models to quantify the Irrigation Water Use.

He is currently engaged in the development of a high-resolution SMAP soil moisture product for the northern latitudes. Additionally, he is involved in the upcoming NASA-ISRO NISAR mission (2024) where he will use high-resolution NISAR soil moisture data for agricultural water management at the field scale.
