Gurjeet Singh is currently a Research Associate in Civil & Environmental Engineering at the Michigan State University (MSU), East Lansing, USA. Before joining the MSU, he was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, California Institute of Technology, Pasadena, USA for a period of one year (2020-2021). He earned his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Water Resources Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Bhubaneswar in 2020. He received his Master of Technology in Soil and Water Conservation Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur in 2011, and his Bachelor of Technology in Agricultural Engineering from Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar, India in 2009.

Gurjeet has been doing research in the field of Water Resources with a focus on Hydrology, Agriculture, and Remote sensing. He is focusing on in-situ measurements of hydro-meteorological variables, sensor network design, validation of satellite-based products, microwave remote sensing for high-resolution soil moisture retrievals, and its use in various hydrological and agricultural applications.

Currently, he is focusing on the development of algorithm for high-resolution soil moisture retrievals using the synergy of microwave active and passive observations for the NISAR Mission, ingesting remotely sensed geophysical and biophysical variables in an integrated hydrological and crop modeling system to improve the skills of nowcast and forecast the hydrologic state variables, drought indices, plant health, and crop yield.
