RAD SHADD

GET TO KNOW THE AMBASSADOR

*When did you first discover disc golf and when did you know you absolutely loved it?

-I first heard of disc golf back in 2008-2009, a friend of mine was living in Santa Cruz, California and moved back to my home island of Maui,Hawaii. He found out disc golf has already existed for many years in Hawaii and he decided to take a bunch of my friends and I out for a round to see if we would like it. We all got better and became more competitive within our group of friends. The moment I saw major improvement in my game is the moment I feel in love with the sport.

*What’s your favorite RPM Disc in your bag right now and why?

-My magma Ruru, great grip even in wet conditions and very reliable out of the hand ✋

Also my XG (Xtra glide) Kahu, predictable shots and gives me extra distance to my mediocre drives. I like to attack any bigger Hyzer shots with the Kahu XG

*Any goals for your 2019 season

-1.)Hmmm, My main goal is to break the 100 different courses played worldwide. Currently at 93 courses played. It's a hard goal to get to when I live full time in the most isolated place on the planet(Hawaii), but I set to conquer it. Asap!

2.)To place in Top 10 and top 3 as many times as possible.

3.) See more of the world through disc golf

Q*For you, are there any practice routines or drills you do to improve your game?

-Coming from a Island with 4courses to moving to a Island with almost virtually no disc golf, I had to create a putting league to keep other players and myself in tune with the game. Basically any round I get to play counts as my actual practice so I try to my best to attend every and any monthlies, leagues or available casual games.

Q*With our sport growing at the rate it is what advice would you give to a newer player just starting out that may help improve their score on the course?

-Observe your shot and the surroundings, sometimes you need to know your limits, sometimes you need to take the par, instead of running a challenging birdie shot, which in many players can turn a birdie to a bogey in a heart beat. Take the Par in stride. Don't get mad at yourself, laugh it off and remind yourself, win or lose always have fun!

Q*Do you intend to travel out side of your country at all this season?

-Hmm as I currently write this I am actually abroad in Thailand competing. I am on 7 tournament binge in a 4week span, (3Hawaii, 1 Malaysia, 1 Singapore, 2 Thailand). As for the future months, I have Japan and South Korea in my foresite.

Q*A fun one: You can play any course in the world, If you could choose your other 3 card mates who would they be?

-This one is supposed to be fun, but so much choices and so much options to choose from, it's hard to say.

Course= Diamond X, Blue Ribbon Pines, Pier Park

1.) Kevin Battz Cortez, one of my good friends and one of the most entertaining person to play with.

2.) Leroy Kaiwi ,Great friend and inspiration to many of us

3.) Brad Wendt, any time I play with this guy, some stuff is about to go down! (Other players call us the Rad and Brad Show)
