Settings

Plenty of settings are available and you are free to play with them to get the best Ragnarok experience you're looking for:

One that I will recommend to anyone is the additional zoom out cells:

A lot of /commands are available also and feel free to check them all with /help or /h in the chat. Most of them are available through the settings interface.

Don't forget the /nc or /ns and also /quake which can be crucial for your gameplay!

Item Sale Lock

Don’t worry about selling a valuable item to the tool dealer any more, you can lock an item to prevent it from appearing in the list of items for sale. Head to the Favorites window in your inventory (fourth category):

Navigation

Use the navigation to find NPCs and monsters, as well as the (in theory) best route to get there. All you have to do is follow the arrows down the floor.

To get there, click after using “Move” to travel there manually, or pay for the service using various items, which will teleport you directly to the selected map:

Possible items: Zelstar (available in the Cash Shop), World Ticket, or with the Essential Care Package (also available in the Cash Shop for 7 or 30 days).

World Map

This map of the Ragnarok world gives you an overview from the Taiwanese server, showing the main monsters and the level of each zone: 

Plenty of customisation is available for fine tuning foot steps, find some examples below:

Note that for now you can only import their final stage.

Channels

Each map is divided into several zones: the ‘current’ zone, followed by zones or channels A, B, C and D. Depending on the number of players in these zones, you can decide to switch between them. This device is available on every map near a warp. 

Important note: When you are in one of these zones, all warps are disabled. To return to the ‘global’ or shared zone, you must select ‘current’ as shown below; as Zone A was previously selected, it does not appear in the list of suggestions. Once you have been teleported to the current/global channel, the warps will be available again. 

Hidden World

In addition to the five zones, including the so-called ‘current’ zone, there are also two PvP zones, Y and Z, which can be accessed via the NPC who looks like a seated Novice: 

Important note: unlike the global zones A, B, C and D, you cannot teleport once you are inside these PvP zones.

The benefits of these PvP zones are:

• Increased number of monsters

• More respawn

• 10% EXP boost (can be activated)*

• 10% drop rate boost (can be activated)*

To get there, you’ll need a key, which can be obtained via the Cash Shop and is valid for your character; it cannot be placed in storage:

* Once the box has been opened, you can use the item as an activatable boost that increases experience and drop rates by 10% for 12 hours.

To leave this area, simply return to the character selection screen, which will take you straight to your save point when you return to the game.

Note: There is a daily reset of the PvP maps at 2.00 am (CEST); your character will then be teleported to one of the non-PvP areas and will continue hunting as before, but without the 10% EXP/drop bonus.

Achievements

Rewards based on challenges you’ve completed and those still to come are available in the game; these often take the form of Increase Agi or Blessing buffs, but may also include cosmetic titles or items: 

Simply complete the challenges and then click the “Claim Reward” button to receive your rewards.

On most maps, there is a treasure; you can search for it and earn Zenys after claiming your reward from this menu.

Login

First of all, if you struggle to log into your account, please do check that you are not having any capital letters in your email as this is case sensitive (and capital letters are useless in emails). 

It has been a common mistake for people having connection issues on Beta Tests !

First Steps

The start is very different from what you might have experienced on other servers, and the directions are fairly clear. You just need to follow the arrows to go from one NPC to another and do what they ask. You won’t have to grind job levels to change class; you’ll pick them up as you go through the tutorial quest. 

Do remember to allocate your skill points, though, or you’ll get stuck and the NPC won’t let you change class! 

Next, all you need to do is go upstairs and head to the room with the name of the class you want to play. There’s no need for a job-change quest like in the old days.

Congratulation, first steps completed ! You can now speak back to Spraki and continue with the Main Quest.

Early Game

Different levelling spots are available based on your class choice. Some classes are more comfortable in some spots than in others. See below for some ideas:

• Mage/Range: Flora, Parasite, Grove, Steel Chonchon…

• Melee: There are two types: those that can use AoE and those that can’t:

• Non-AoE: Spore, Bigfoot, Coco, Thara, Sohee, Orc Warrior/Lady, Argiope…

• AoE: Poison Spore, Wolf, Goblin…

Important note: Experience on Ragnarok Zero:Global does not appear to be scaled with level as expected in Renewal; in other words, a monster will always grant the same amount of experience regardless of your level, so certain ranged classes or even groups can take full advantage of this.

Route Planner

You can use tools like the Route Planner available on Midgard Hub by Ryan. Any monster can be added to Planner. You can share the planner with other or even save it. Have a try !

Leveling by Class

Mage

As you can reset your stats and skills for free up to level 40, you can simply start off in melee mode right from the start until you get Earth Spike to level 1. Head to Culvert and follow the path to get Fire Bolt to level 10. Reset your stats and max out INT.

Head for Ant Hell, the aim being to reach level 20–30 and be able to one-shot the Wolves. Use the lowest possible level with Fire Bolt. Once you’re comfortable, you can have a go at the Steel Chonchons with Earth Spike level 5.

Other possibilities, amongst many others no doubt, include the Parasites, the Groves, the Argiopes… Note that auto-hunt won’t be your friend on these final maps.

My experience is the following during the second OBT (using Free Kafra Point):
Get 2 level jobs on Spore, get Fire Bolt level 2 and stay on Spore until Earth Spike is 5 then move to Steel Chonchon and stay there until the level 50 base 50 job. Very chill… 🙂

Thief

Culvert / (Poison) Spore > Bigfoot > Thara Frog / Coco > Orc Warrior/Lady

Your strength, your dodging, your weakness… no area-of-effect spells. You’ll have to bash the monsters one by one.

Swordman 

Culvert / (Poison) Spore > Bigfoot > Thara Frog / Coco > Orc Warrior/Lady

Your strength, your tankiness. You’ll have to bash the monsters one by one; Bash is your best friend, especially with the stun passive. Alternatives using Magnum Break may be worth considering.

Archer

Culvert / (Poison) Spore > Bigfoot > Thara Frog / Coco > Orc Warrior/Lady 

Just like the Thief/Swordman, except that you’re a ranged class, which gives you a few alternatives such as Flora or Parasites. There might be a way to make use of Arrow Shower and MTs… it’s up to you to try it out 👍

Merchant

Culvert / (Poison) Spore > Bigfoot > Thara Frog / Coco > Orc Warrior/Lady > Goblin

With plenty of SP, Cart Revolution can be a formidable ally, especially towards the end of levelling, when it starts to take much longer.

Acolyte

As you can reset your stats (and skills) for free up to level 40, don’t worry too much about it – in the early game, you can simply go for a melee build.

The Acolyte will follow much the same path as the other melee classes. As the heal bomb is rather poor, I’d advise going for a battle build before level 40; after that, you’ll need to decide on your future path and probably find a duo or a group if you’re going down the support route.

This means that a team, or a group where everyone plays their part, will perform relatively better than if you’re playing solo; the same applies to auto-hunting if everyone manages to get by on their own.

Depending on the group’s composition and provided auto-hunt is not used, a group of 10-12 players can easily target leveling areas that are significantly tougher than those they would face whilst soloing or using auto-hunt.

Examples: When soloing, certain classes will head to the Orcs around levels 30-35; it is highly likely that a good group could venture there as early as level 25. A duo or trio consisting of a mobber, a damage dealer (DD) and a support character is also very effective, depending on the zone they’re in. If you’re just a tad short of HIT to maintain consistent damage output, there’s nothing better than a duo with an Acolyte for a Blessing and Increase Agi. If the support character has Pneuma, a zone like the Parasites will be a piece of cake.

As a leader, you can therefore promote your group – just make sure you specify the area and channel where your team is based. If a member leaves the group, the shared experience will be reset and become individual; it’s up to you to manually set it back to shared, otherwise the group members who aren’t AFK are bound to complain.

If you’re looking for a group, you can click on one; if it isn’t full, you’ll be added to it just a few seconds after clicking “Join Party”:

Affixes

Affixes are an essential part of the game; getting the piece of equipment with the best affixes for your class is the way to go in Zero.

When an item with one or more affixes drops to the ground, it will be surrounded by a coloured halo corresponding to the number of affixes: 

• blue for 1

• yellow for 2

• purple for 3

• green for 4 (to be checked)

• Red for 5 (to be checked)

Notes: 

• Max HP is often prioritised to avoid dying too early

• HIT and FLEE are quite important for melee classes

• Max SP for classes that use skills

• Or Variable Casting Time for casters (mages and acolytes)

Additional information about the Cash Shop (CS) will be provided when the definitive version of it will be available at the launch.

Main Quest

Throughout your adventure on Ragnarok Zero:Global, there’s a main quest (MQ) available which offers a change from the XP grind and also allows you to gain experience. Most of these are still ‘FedEx’-style quests, but they do provide a welcome break.

There are level requirements, and you won’t be able to complete everything in one go (for example, level 20, level 40, etc.). The main quest continues as new patches are released.

Note: During the open beta, doing all the main quest was representing 45% at level 49.

More details to come after the opening.

Once auto-hunt has been set up, simply click on the twin swords so that they turn blue, indicating that auto-hunt is activated. Your character will then begin to explore the map according to your settings

The Monsters section is reset between each map change, so if you decide to exclude any monsters, you’ll need to redo that selection only. You can configure a key to enable or disable the auto-hunt in the Game Settings.

Leave the instance and destroy it to loot the chest:

The shard is an item used mainly for crafting weapons and armour (to be confirmed). This daily farming is essential for your gear progression, try your best to make them whenever they are available.

Other dungeons will become available with future patches, such as 

• Culvert

• Orc

• Sunken Ship 

• ...

The MvP is in these rooms (if spawned) and currently, the player killing the MVP is rewarded with the following:

Note that when the MvP died on our first try, 2 more boxes dropped on the floor. A multitude of fragments dropped on the floor all over the map and are probably lootable by anyone.

The fragments can then be exchanged at the Raid Manager, Yakt standing in the Eden HQ. There is a daily quest and I advise anyone to participate in the PvE MvP Raids as much as you can !

The area is divided into four zones, and you can travel quickly from one to another if you wish: 

The Kafra, a Blacksmith’s forge and a Tool Dealer are available, notably right in the center.

This first step will allow you to return to Prontera.

You can therefore set up a Vending or Buying post, whether or not you are a merchant class: 

It is indeed possible to complete a quest that allows you to act as a seller or buyer whilst offline or whilst playing your character. 

The blacksmith will be skipped here as he has a dedicated chapter.

Stylist

You can change your hairstyle, your hair colour and the colour of your clothes. Note that the colour of your clothes also affects your mount. 

Coupons are available in the Cash Shop: 

Costumes

Almost all monsters can drop costumes and these drops are announced via a server-wide broadcast; the drop rates seem to be similar to those for cards.

Binding Removal

Costumes are linked to your account but can be unlinked using an item from the Cash Shop if you wish to trade or sell them to other players: 

Enchanter (Box)

You can buy a box of enchantments for 10K Zenys:

You can then place 5 outfits in it and receive a random gem that can be used to enchant an outfit. 

Enchantments

Then all you need to do is use the stone and select the costume, also note that enchantments can be combined to cancel out certain penalties: 

Forge

Available in the new area, the NPC "Hub", but also at the usual locations such as Prontera and Payon. This NPC also allows you to repair items, purchase certain smithing components and process rough materials. 

There’s no ‘safe refine’ from 0 to +4, so there’s bound to be some breakage! 

Cheese Seller

This bonus cannot be combined with the below potion :

I don't know you, but I feel nice having this feature after decades counting things every single time when theorycrafting my builds!

Clan

If you don’t have a guild, while I strongly recommend to look for one, you can also register to a clan:

I strongly encourage anyone to join a guild because a lot of content is enjoyable and easier in small to high guilds such as:

• Memorial Dungeons

• Leveling Party with EXP songs

• MvP Raids

• PvP content

• GvG content (War of Emperium)

Do visit the official Discord section to check the guilds that are recruiting, in your mother tongue or internationally !

Within a guild you can have up to 75 other members than you.

Note that guild can have animated emblem 🎉

Qpets & Enchantments

There is a quest in Izlude for Pet Taming:

You can attach a Qpet to an accessory that provides bonus stats. To do this, you’ll need a Taming Ring, which can be equipped in the right-hand slot and is available for 50K Zenys. 

For level two, you’ll need another egg, but the success rate is only 50%:

Key Bind Switch

You can assign a key or key combination to switch between two sets of gear. This is very effective in mobbing/DD roles, or simply in different parts of the game, such as in instances or PvP/WoE, for example! This action can be performed every 10 seconds. 

Earn Zenys

First tip: make sure you have a Merchant with Discount and Overcharge set to 10 on your account; this will allow them to take items directly from the Kafra and sell them at a good price. Bear in mind that some items will likely be in high demand amongst players, and it’ll be more profitable to sell them to players rather than to NPCs.

Lots of monsters drop Fly Wings; you’ll probably end up with more than you need, but they sell very, very well to NPCs.

As for loot in general, don’t hesitate to pick everything up, many items are very useful. Selling them to NPCs or other players will allow you to afford purchases such as HP/SP consumables or ammunition.

Oridecon/Elunium ores (whether refined or not) are sure to be an essential resource, particularly as there’s no ‘safe refine’ option, so you’re going to need a looooooot of them🎉.

If you don’t need gear with certain affixes, someone else surely does! It’s up to you to strike the right balance with the other gear already on the market.

Crafts for Alchemists are also worth looking into:

Assassins will have/have Enchant Deadly Poison (EDP); do remember to keep this to hand – it might come in handy after some patches:
