I can access my gmail account emails on the apple mail but after reading them I noticed that when I log into my one of my gmail accounts on my computer the emails that I previously read on my iphone with new IOS 16 are not marked as read but rather as unread. There is a synching issue between gmail and apple after this new IOS 16 release that is not sending the notification to the gmail servers that the emails have been read on iphone. Anyone have a solution for this?

I had this problem too... And up until this problem started happening a little bit ago I've realized that people also have not been getting my emails that I've sent from my iPhone 14, even though they all appear to have sent. Tried it on my computer, and they were able to confirm they received it that time. Also, when I deleted the account off my phone and then added it back, I had apparently 70 (I get a lot of emails) unread and somehow back in my inbox after having already viewed them, replied to some of them (which appeared to have sent but didn't), and filed them the way I wanted them, all over again. But I believe after doing that, we're back to normal. Thank goodness somebody already had this question answered or I could have been looking at a much bigger problem!

I see other people with the same problem. I read gmail messages on my iPhone and delete them and on my computer they are all showing up unread. It's making me crazy to have to go into my computer to delete everything.

Same issue with iphone and computer not syncing my gmail account. Tried the fix you suggested to no avail. Called Apple and they said to call google. I also believe it is an issue that started with IOS 16 update. Thanks Apple for the help!

I am having the same issue. I have tried all sorts of suggested solutions that I found online, but nothing has worked. My work account is syncing properly, but nothing I read and/or delete on my phone from my personal account is showing as read on my computer. It is syncing just fine in the other direction- everything I read and delete on my computer shows as read or does get deleted on my phone.

I HOPE someone sees these posts and fixes our issue! Mine is the same - one gmail account works fine with my iPhone syncing with my computer and the other account does not sync at all. So every night I'm deleting tons of messages that I already read and deleted on my phone.

Tonight I got the idea to forward my messages from my gmail account that is not syncing to the account that is syncing. IT WORKED! So now at least when I do things on my iPhone it syncs to my computer and it's less work. If you can't forward to your work gmail - maybe try setting up a new gmail account and forward the account that's not syncing to a new account to see if that works.

Same issue here. Works fine with 3 of my emails but a fourth email account (all gmail based) won't show my messages as read if I read them on my iPhone first. Very frustrating. Tried deleting the account on my MacBook Pro and re-adding it and that did not help at all. Also rebooted both devices. Still an issue.

I had the same issue where when gmail showed "read" on my iPhone, it showed as unread on laptop (over 100 emails were marked as unread). Running iOs 16.3.1 on iPhone and on macOS Ventura 13.2.1 on MacBook Pro. I deleted the gmail account from my iPhone and re-added it, and now it's syncing! :)

I believe I have read and tried all solutions in the community but still cannot sync gmail across devices. All apps up to date, OS up to date, IMAP enabled, signed out and back in again on all devices, deleted the mailbox on all devices then reinstalled yet when I delete an actual letter in gmail using my phone, my Mac mini and Mac air still show the letter as new. My inbox is flooding.

This is still a huge problem for me as only my phone is syncing properly with gmail. iPad and MacBook do not. All worked perfectly fine until about a month ago . I have tried a bunch of fixes but nothing working .Please let me know what you find out - I would VERY much appreciate it!!

In iPhone go to settings > in password and accounts > click on add account you can select the desired account it could be gmail , enter gmail address and password and sign in it will prompt to check calendar , mail , notes , slide the box of it the apps data will start syncing .

I am afraid it's going to take deleting your gmail account and re-installing it. I'm afraid to do it alone- I was going to go ask for help at the Genius Bar but my son says he'll walk me through it. wish me luck

I have 3 gmail accounts. I am signed in on all 3 of them on my iphone 13 pro max, iPad pro and MacBook pro. All devices are up to date. ONE of my 3 gmail accounts has a syncing problem: Details. If I work on my MacBook on that one problematic account, e.g.. if I write an email, save an email in drafts or delete an email, it DOES sync to my iPad and iPhone. the opposite does NOT happen however. e.g. if I work on my iPad and/or iphone, it does NOT sync to my MacBook. So my MacBook "talks" to my other 2 devices but my other 2 devices do not communicate with my MacBook. Apple support spent an hour with me yesterday and couldn't figure it out. Should I be reinstalling that problematic gmail account?? Any other suggestions?

Connect your old email account to Outlook. You will be able to see and access your old email, but it will be stored in your Gmail account, not in your Microsoft 365 account. Choose this option if you plan to keep your Gmail account active, or you don't have the Outlook app installed on your computer. For the steps, see Connect email accounts in Outlook on the web (Office 365).

If the configuration process doesn't finish and you instead get prompts to enter your user name and password for the imap.gmail.com server, choose Cancel and re-enter your app password in case the first one had a typo. If you continue having problems, see Fixing problems with adding Gmail to Outlook.

Choose Browse to select where to save the Outlook Data File (.pst) and to enter a file name. By default, the name is "backup," so choose another name that's easy to remember, such as gmail. If you are exporting to an existing Outlook Data File (.pst), under Options, specify what to do when exporting items that already exist in the file. Choose Finish to continue.

If you turn off sync, you can still see your bookmarks, history, passwords, and other settings on your computer. If you make any changes, they won't be saved to your Google Account and synced to your other devices.

In addition to downloading Shift, you can get Gmail on your desktop through other separate email clients as well. However, these options require more steps than using Shift as a desktop email client. Shift provides a gmail app for PC so you can manage as many gmail accounts as you want right from your desktop.

There are also several third-party apps for Mac that you can use to get gmail on your desktop. This article explains four other options, in addition to the Mail app, (Go for Gmail, Kiwi for Gmail, Mailplane, and Wavebox) for downloadable desktop apps to get Gmail on your Mac.

With the notification pause enabled, new emails will only alert on your desktop. Of course, you still get those emails on your phone, but they don't make a peep or appear on your screen. Step away from the computer, and notifications should start coming through on the phone again.

You can also put the Chrome browser to work to keep your multiple accounts (or accounts for other people who use the computer) separate but usable using Chrome Profiles. Click the profile icon at the upper right of your browser window, click the Pencil icon to give that Profile a name, then click Add at the bottom. You'll get a new Chrome Profile sign-in page to use here.

You can access Gmail from multiple devices at the same time. Sometimes, you stay signed in when you don't mean to (on, say, a public computer), or worse, suspect someone of using your account behind your back (turn on multi-factor authentication to avoid that).

Google has yet to create a Gmail app for Windows. The closest solution is to add a Gmail account to the Microsoft Outlook email desktop client. If you already use Office 365, you probably know that Outlook supports the use of multiple email accounts simultaneously. Here's how you can add your Gmail account to the Outlook desktop client:1. Open Outlook and then select “File” from the main toolbar. You’ll find the “+Add Account” button in the top left corner.2. Type in your Gmail address and click on "Connect." Outlook will automatically launch the Gmail window and ask you for the password.3. When you enter your password, click on the "Sign in" option. If you've previously set up 2-factor authentication on Gmail, you'll be asked to enter a code that will be sent to your mobile device.4. When Outlook finishes adding your Gmail account, select “Done.”Outlook will sync with your Gmail account automatically. The process may take a while. Furthermore, you might receive an email in your Gmail inbox notifying you that there is a new logon.
