Welcome! I’m a coxswain and coach with a decade of experience in our sport. In my non-rowing life I’m a university professor, and during virtual teaching in the Fall 2020 semester, I created digital escape rooms as a form of exam review for my students. (Credit for this idea goes to Ditch That Textbook, an excellent online resource for educators.) I thought it would be fun to adapt this for the rowing world. This escape room can be solved completely on your own, or in a competitive format by splitting up into teams (using the Zoom breakout rooms feature, for example). I hope it can serve as a fun and free activity for rowing teams looking for a safe way to stay connected during the pandemic. Please enjoy!

All you need to successfully escape is access to the internet.
Clues can be accessed by clicking on the image on the main page of this website.
Uncover clues by answering questions on Google forms. When you have the correct answers, you’ll be able to submit the form and view the clue. If you have the wrong answer, a note will appear, as in the example below:
If you are working with a group, be sure to communicate with each other. In order to successfully escape, the individual clues must be pieced together. You could be holding onto an important piece of information that doesn’t make sense by itself, but does when put together with the rest.
Write everything down. You never know what may be important! You can use the Zoom chat to keep track of what you find, a shared Google doc, the Zoom whiteboard, or physical paper. It’s a good idea for multiple people in a group to help with keeping track of clues, in case something gets missed or lost.
Keep links and forms open as you find them, in case you need to refer to them again.
