RouteForge is developed and published by Trefnio.
This Privacy Policy explains how RouteForge handles information when you use the application.
RouteForge is designed as a route-planning tool for creating, organising, optimising and navigating multi-stop routes. We aim to collect and process only the information necessary to provide the app's features.
RouteForge allows you to enter addresses, postcodes, destinations and other locations in order to create routes.
To provide address searching, geocoding, route optimisation, distance calculations and road routing, location information may be sent to third-party routing and mapping services.
This information may include:
Addresses and postcodes you enter
Search terms used to find locations
Latitude and longitude coordinates
Route start and finish locations
Route stops
Route sequences required for calculation
RouteForge currently uses services including HeiGIT/openrouteservice, OpenStreetMap-based mapping data, and Postcodes.io for relevant routing, address and postcode functions.
RouteForge may use a secure routing gateway to communicate with these services. Normal technical information such as an IP address, request time and network information may also be processed as part of providing internet-based services.
RouteForge does not require you to create an account.
RouteForge can optionally use your device's current location when you select the Use current location feature.
Android location permission is requested only when this feature is used.
RouteForge:
Does not continuously track your location
Does not request background location access
Does not monitor your movements when the app is not being used
Does not automatically share your current location with other RouteForge users
If current location is used as part of a route, its coordinates may be sent to the routing services described above in order to calculate that route.
You can deny or revoke location permission at any time through your device settings.
RouteForge stores app information locally on your device so that routes and preferences can be restored between sessions.
This may include:
Active routes
Saved routes
Route history
Favourite and recently used places
Route settings and preferences
Completed or skipped stops
Route planning information
This information is stored within RouteForge's private application storage.
RouteForge does not currently provide a RouteForge account or cloud-sync service for this information.
Locally stored RouteForge data can normally be removed by deleting the relevant information within the app, clearing the application's data through Android settings, or uninstalling RouteForge.
RouteForge may allow you to select CSV or other supported files containing route information.
Selected files are used to import the locations or route information you request.
RouteForge does not automatically upload the original selected file to Trefnio. Location information extracted from an imported file may, however, be sent to routing or geocoding services where necessary to identify locations or calculate routes.
You should avoid importing information that you are not authorised to use.
RouteForge uses Google AdMob to provide advertising.
Depending on your region, consent choices and device settings, Google and its advertising partners may process information such as:
Advertising identifiers
Device information
IP address
Approximate location derived from network information
Advertising interactions
App interaction information
Diagnostic and performance information
RouteForge uses Google's consent system, including the Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) where required.
Where privacy choices are required, RouteForge provides access to those choices within the app.
The availability and personalisation of advertisements may depend on your consent choices and applicable law.
RouteForge limits advertising to specific areas of the application. Ads are not shown on the active navigation, route map or route editing screens.
Information collected by Google is handled according to Google's own privacy policies.
RouteForge displays mapping information using OpenStreetMap data and related mapping services.
When map tiles or mapping information are requested, the service providing that content may receive technical information required to deliver it, including your IP address and the requested map area.
OpenStreetMap and its service providers operate under their own privacy policies and terms.
RouteForge can send route destinations to external navigation applications or services such as Google Maps or Waze.
When you choose to open a route in another application, the selected destination or route information is passed to that application.
Once another application or website is opened, its own privacy policy and terms apply. Trefnio does not control how those external services process information.
RouteForge requires internet access for features such as:
Address searches
Geocoding
Route calculations
Road route lines
Map tiles
Advertising
Some locally stored information may remain available without an internet connection, but online routing and mapping features require network access.
RouteForge does not require users to provide Trefnio with information such as:
Name
Email address
Telephone number
Postal address
Date of birth
Account credentials
There is currently no RouteForge user-account system.
Information you voluntarily enter as part of a location, route name or imported file remains your responsibility.
RouteForge does not currently use a dedicated Trefnio analytics system to build individual user profiles.
Third-party services integrated into RouteForge, particularly advertising and mapping providers, may collect diagnostic, usage or technical information according to their own privacy policies.
Trefnio does not sell personal information.
Information is shared with external services only where required to provide app functionality, advertising, legal compliance, security or services that you choose to use.
Examples include routing providers, mapping providers, advertising services and external navigation applications.
Route information stored locally remains on your device until it is deleted, the application's data is cleared, or RouteForge is uninstalled.
Third-party services may retain information according to their own privacy and security policies.
Technical server logs may also be retained for reasonable periods for security, reliability, abuse prevention and troubleshooting purposes.
Reasonable technical measures are used to protect RouteForge and communications with supported online services.
Internet-based transmission can never be guaranteed to be completely secure, and users should avoid entering unnecessary sensitive information into route names, addresses or imported files.
RouteForge is a productivity and route-planning application and is not specifically designed for children.
We do not knowingly operate RouteForge for the purpose of collecting personal information from children.
You can control a number of privacy-related features through RouteForge and Android, including:
Refusing or revoking location permission
Changing advertising/privacy consent choices where available
Removing saved routes and places
Clearing RouteForge's application data
Uninstalling the application
Choosing whether to open information in external navigation apps
