If your Galaxy phone or tablet won't stop rotating its screen, or, on the other hand, if it does not rotate at all, don't panic. Your device comes with screen rotation settings built right in. It's just a matter of making sure you have the correct settings in place. You can make your device's screen rotate freely with Auto rotate, or lock it in one position using either Portrait or Landscape mode.

Portrait or Landscape mode: Portrait locks the screen in the upwards position, while Landscape locks the screen in the sideways position. Both icons look like a lock and are gray when enabled. When enabled, your device's screen will not rotate based on how you are holding it, however apps that are designed for a specific mode will rotate the screen as necessary.

Auto rotate is turned on by default when you first get your phone or tablet, but it can be turned off at any time. Locking your screen in either Portrait or Landscape mode is actually the same thing as turning off Auto rotate. Once Auto rotate is disabled, your device will lock in whatever position you were holding it in.

Look for the screen orientation icon. Depending on your settings, you may need to look for the Portrait, Landscape, or Auto Rotate icon. Remember, the Portrait and Landscape icons are gray when they're active, while the Auto Rotate icon is blue when enabled.

If the screen is locked in Portrait or Landscape mode and you need to change it, tap the icon (either Portrait or Landscape) so it activates Auto rotate. If Auto rotate is already activated, you don't need to select anything.

Open Quick settings again. Whether you are holding your device upwards or sideways, swipe down from the top of the screen. Tap the Auto rotate icon to lock your device in your desired position. Remember, Portrait is when the device is upwards, and Landscape is when the device is sideways.

To check other rotation settings, open the Quick settings panel by swiping down from the top of the screen. Touch and hold the Auto rotate icon to open its settings, and then review the options for the Home screen, Lock screen, and Voice call screen. You can turn on your preferred settings by tapping the switches next to them, and then tapping Done.

Even if Auto rotate is enabled, you can temporarily lock the screen so it doesn't rotate. This can be helpful if you are looking at a PDF or document and want to rotate your hand or device without changing your screen orientation.

To do this, keep a finger on the screen while turning the phone or tablet. The screen will stay in its original orientation as long as you hold your finger in place. Release your finger to allow the screen to rotate.

Placing the model uses a tap and point mechanic. You should be able to point your phone at a surface in your space to locate the origin of the model, then tap, hold and point your phone to set the direction of the model x-axis. If you want to re-place (or rotate) the model you can tap the Fologram icon at the bottom of the app and then tap reset button. We have fairly simple docs on this here: Fologram

You can scale the model to typical architectural scales from the Fologram for Rhino plugin window. If you want to be able to dynamically scale the model from your phone, sync your geometry in Grasshopper and use a Scale component with a synchronized slider to set the scale. There is an example of this here: Fologram

If you're still having trouble rotating and casting properly, the first thing I'd suggest is making sure you are no longer on the PTC if you were. You can remove yourself from the PTC using the steps here, but please keep in mind that it won't take effect until the next update.

If you've turned on the Talkback app in Accessibility Settings, you should know that enabling auto rotate can cause issues. Rotating the screen will interrupt any spoken feedback that's currently in process.

Android has a nifty feature to disable auto-rotation... Is there some sort of gesture or key combination to rotate your screen? (Say I am in a browser and want to rotate). The idea is to be on auto-rotate = off (mostly desired) and manually change the orientation when needed without exiting the application (preferably).

I use Quick Settings and there's an option to toggle auto-rotate. I have it so the shortcut to Quick Settings lives in my Notification bar so to toggle it requires a swipe, two taps and the back button to toggle it and get back to the app I was in.

Since you've said toggling auto is fine, you can just use the quick settings pull-down in Jelly Bean and later. Hold the phone in the orientation you want, then pull down the settings tray, and turn auto-rotate back on. When it's rotated, turn it off again right away.

You can even use it on phones that don't have the stock settings tray, if they have a replacement. Samsung phones are an example of this: instead of two trays, they have one notification panel with "quick access settings" at the top. You can configure which settings are shown, and auto rotate is one of the options.

In your profiles screen, click the + button and select application. In the following screen that shows with the list of your installed apps, choose the app that you would wish to turn the Orientation lock to off when opened.

I don't think so. If your auto-rotation is off, only the application which you are running can force the screen to rotate programmatically. You can do this with code but only for your application not for others.

The landscape orientation of mobile phone only works on one side of the landscape.

So I suggest to also enable the game to rotate on the other side.

You may say this suggestion is not really important, but here are the reasons that may change your mind:

1.) Convenience. When earphones/charger were connected to your phone while playing, it becomes a disturbance (especially when you were holding your phone or using your thumb on using the virtual controls), so you tend to rotate your phone to eliminate this such inconvenience.

Because mID is a new technology, you should continue to carry your physical ID with you because not all entities are able to verify mobile ID yet. MVD urges people to always carry their physical ID when driving so it can be used in interactions with law enforcement during traffic stops or incidents.

I have a website that is best viewed in Landscape mode. How can I have it so if the user loads the website in landscape mode it is fine but if it loads in Portrait mode or they rotate from Landscape to Portrait mode a image or something popups up taking up the entire screen asking them to rotate back to landscape? Thinking Javascript/jQuery can do this.

I have seen this done on my iPad with the Game Informer app where if the user opens the app in Portrait or rotates from Landscape to Portrait a opaque image pops up asking them to rotate back to landscape. [see iPad screenshot]

All this does is check the available width and if it is 300px or less, it will show the content that overlays. If the available width is greater than 300px, it will hide the content. You can adjust this value for the different widths of a mobile device to check if it's in portrait or landscape mode.

You now have the option to save and rename the file and download the rotated PDF to your iPhone or get a sharable link. Whether or not you download it, there are multiple ways that you can share a PDF from your iPhone.

To rotate your screen on Android, open Quick Settings by dragging down the notification bar at the top. Tap the Auto-Rotate button to enable or disable automatic screen rotation.

This is very close to the IphoneX webflow tutorial by Nelson, but in that Nelson placed the phone and the video behind it, in the same div block. To achieve the rotation of just the phone it must be in a separate div which is fine, but when the phone rotates - how do you mask the rest of image placed behind?

Ring Video Doorbell no longer plays video back in Landscape Mode. have an iPhone 14 Pro Max and have had no issues until yesterday when your doorbell no longer allows you to flip your phone to landscape mode and watch a video playback? Whats the issue? When will this be fixed?

Hi @Angie1966. I just tested out watching a video from the Event History on my iPhone and was able to swap to landscape mode, with the screen orientation lock off. Make sure you do not have your phone locked to portrait mode, as that would prevent the video from swapping to landscape when you rotate your phone. Also, which version of iOS and which version of the Ring app are you currently on?

Hmm, when you mention auto rotate is on, do you mean the orientation lock is disabled? If so, I would restart your tablet, make sure the OS is updated and the app in downloaded with the latest version.

I recommend starting off by making sure that both your mobile device and Square app are up-to-date (just in case any new updates have been released since you last checked). There are some additional steps listed here for troubleshooting.

I hope this is able to resolve the issue for you but please do let me know how it goes! I'll keep an eye out for your reply

Hi there again, @kaijukitchenvt I'm glad to hear that the landscape mode is working for you now!

Once its installed, long-press on the home screen and tap on Settings. At the bottom of the list, you should find a toggle switch to enable Auto Rotation. Slide it to the On position, then go back to your home screen. Rotate your device and enjoy its newfound versatility. 2351a5e196
