Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 30, 2026
1. Introduction
Rotando: Hike & Nature Routes ("Rotando", "we", "us", or "our") provides hiking, route-planning, weather, profile, and community features. This Privacy Policy explains what information the Android application collects, why it is used, how it is stored or shared, and the choices available to users.
2. Information We Collect
Account and profile information: When you sign in with Google, Google and Firebase Authentication provide an account identifier, email address, and display name. You may also provide a nickname, profile avatar, biography, city, and hiking-related profile information.
Community content: If you use the Community section, we store content you choose to submit, including posts, comments, likes, trail or city labels, image links or uploaded image references, direct messages, joint-hike invitations, meeting notes, dates, and related timestamps. Community posts and profile details intended for the community may be visible to other signed-in Rotando users. Direct messages and invitations are intended only for their participants.
Location information: With your permission, Rotando may access approximate and precise device location to provide nearby routes, weather, and location-based features. Coordinates may be sent to the Open-Meteo service to obtain weather information. Location permission can be disabled in Android settings. Meeting locations or cities that you enter manually may be stored with the relevant plan or community content.
Device, advertising, and diagnostics information: Google Mobile Ads and related Google services may process advertising identifiers, IP address, device information, app interactions, crash information, diagnostics, and performance data to provide, measure, secure, and improve advertising and services. Consent choices are requested where required by law.
3. How We Use Information
We use information to authenticate users; create and maintain profiles; provide community posts, comments, messages, invitations, and shared hiking plans; display weather and location-based features; prevent abuse and protect the service; provide and measure advertising; diagnose errors; improve performance; comply with legal obligations; and respond to privacy or deletion requests.
4. Storage and Service Providers
Account data and community data are stored using Google Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore. Google Mobile Ads processes advertising and measurement data. Google Sign-In processes authentication data. Open-Meteo receives coordinates required for weather requests. These providers process information under their own terms and privacy policies. Data may be processed in countries other than the user's country and is protected using safeguards required by applicable law.
We do not sell personal information. Information is shared only as needed to operate the features described above, with service providers, when a user intentionally publishes community content, when required by law, or to protect users and the service.
5. Data Security
Information transmitted between the app and supported cloud services is encrypted in transit. Firebase access rules and authentication controls are used to restrict database operations. No electronic storage method is completely secure, so absolute security cannot be guaranteed. Users should avoid publishing sensitive personal information in community posts.
6. Retention
We retain account and profile information while the account remains active and as reasonably necessary to provide Rotando. Community posts, messages, invitations, and related records remain until deleted by the user where the feature is available, removed following a valid request, or no longer needed. Some records may be retained longer when required for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, dispute resolution, or backup integrity.
7. Account and Data Deletion
You may request deletion of your Rotando account and associated Firebase data at any time by emailing axakdeveloper@gmail.com with the subject "Rotando Account Deletion". Send the request from the Google email address used to sign in and include your Rotando nickname if available. We may request reasonable verification to protect the account.
After verification, we will delete or anonymize the Firebase Authentication account, profile, community posts, messages, invitations, and other data associated with the account, except information that must be retained for legal, security, fraud-prevention, or legitimate record-keeping reasons. Deletion requests are normally completed within 30 days. Content already copied or quoted by other users may remain in their independent content.
You may also request correction of profile information or deletion of specific content by contacting the same address.
8. User Choices
You can decline or withdraw advertising consent through the privacy choices available in the app. You can disable location permission in Android settings. You can sign out of Google within Rotando. You may choose not to submit optional profile or community information. Withdrawing permission may limit related functionality.
9. Children's Privacy
Rotando is not directed to children under 13, or the minimum digital-consent age applicable in the user's country. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children below the applicable age. A parent or guardian who believes a child has provided information may contact us for removal.
10. Community Responsibilities
Users are responsible for content they publish and must not post unlawful, abusive, infringing, dangerous, or sensitive personal information. Community content may be moderated or removed to protect users, comply with law, or enforce applicable rules.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when features, providers, legal requirements, or data practices change. The effective date above will be updated when material changes are published.
