Fiore's treacherous minister of state Zash Caine steals the Dragon Cry, a mystical staff discovered in the dragon graveyard beneath the capital city of Crocus. Fiore's royal family recruits Natsu Dragneel and his team from the Fairy Tail guild to recover the staff, which is imbued with magical power capable of annihilating the kingdom. The wizards pursue Zash to Stella, whose ruler, King Animus, intends to use the staff for a ritual. Natsu inadvertently alerts Zash to their presence upon touching the staff, which eventually results in his team being captured by Zash and the kingdom's elite military unit, the Three Stars. The team flees Stella with the help of Zash's reluctant accomplice, Sonya, who is also Animus's aide and childhood friend. Sonya implores Fairy Tail to leave the staff in Stella, warning that Animus's ritual could prevent a potential magical catastrophe from destroying the kingdom. However, Natsu refuses, sensing from his contact with the staff that it contains the malicious intent of dragons that were killed by Acnologia.
Fairy Tail returns to Stella to retrieve the staff, defeating the Three Stars in the process. Sonya touches the Dragon Cry, affirming Natsu's warning of its true nature, and refuses to give the staff to Animus. Natsu arrives and sees Sonya speaking to herself; possessing Sonya, Animus reveals himself to be a dragon who sealed himself within her body to cheat death, appearing to her in a human guise to manipulate her. Unable to escape Sonya's body on his own, Animus performs the ritual to free himself using the staff's magic, but emerges in a weakened form after Zash steals the staff for himself, seeking revenge against Fiore for exiling him. Zash uses the staff to activate an army of artificial soldiers against Fairy Tail and tries destroying Fiore, but is killed by the staff's magic energy.

In a struggle over the staff, Animus impales Natsu on one of his spikes and finishes absorbing the staff's magic, regaining his full strength. Natsu survives his injury, with half of his body taking on the appearance of a dragon, and viciously attacks Animus; Animus recognizes Natsu as E.N.D., the "destroyer of all", before Natsu defeats him. Natsu is deeply shaken by his transformation upon returning to normal, but is comforted by Lucy Heartfilia. Sonya destroys the Dragon Cry, deactivating the soldiers and causing Animus to die peacefully. The broken staff reverts to its true form, a ribbon once belonging to Sonya, which flies away in the breeze.
In a post-credits scene, the ribbon is picked up by Acnologia, who recalls killing a group of dragons and mortally wounding Animus for attacking Sonya during her childhood, an event which led to Animus inhabiting Sonya's body; having lost his compassion for humanity, Acnologia destroys the ribbon. Zeref observes Acnologia from afar alongside Brandish and Invel Yura, declaring that his battle with Natsu is imminent.
There are thousands, but the main ones (that trained the dragon slayers) are of a number of 5. (Igneel (Natsu), Grandine (Wendy), Metallicana (Gajeel), Skiadrum (Rogue) and Weisslogia (Sting).) There is also Acnologia, making a total of 6 main dragons. There are a lot of other ones, but these are the dragons worth remembering. Especially Acnologia. There are other minor ones, but I don't think they are really important to the plot. The number of names mentioned is of 13, though.
I've gotten an idea for a build that's kinda like dragon slayers from fairy tail, so far I'm stuck with ascendant dragon or four elements monk multiclassed with dragonic sorcerer, but I don't want this build to be terrible. What should I do?
Edit: I forget to mention what a dragon slayer is, to put it shortly, they are melee spellcasters that like to punch things with elemantal damage types and can eat a specific element, for example a fire dragon slayer can deal fire damage with a punch and can eat fire. But they can also cast spells that increase there physical prowess and can fight at long range with magic.

Dragons came in all shapes, types and sizes. Known types of dragons include Fire, Sky, Lightning, Poison, White, Shadow, Dark, Rock, Water, Blade, Corpse, Sticky, Tiger, Sword-Saint, Ghost, Azure, Yellow, Four-Beasts, Law, Earth, Moon, Gold, Armor, Arcane, and Iron. All Dragons as adults were very large. Their appearance was highly variable, and no individuals, even among the same elemental type, looked alike. Some such as the Sky dragon, Grandeeney, had two wings and two legs, while others like Igneel and Metallicana were possessed of four legs and two wings. Dragons could survive without a heart, as their physical anatomy was different than a human's. Likewise, a Dragon Slayer Wizard who became a dragon also gained this anatomy, allowing both to survive without such major organs by creating new organs to take the heart's place.
All dragons also possess an elemental breath attack, known as a "Roar". Depending on the type of dragon, the roar was composed of the element the dragon utilized (i.e; fire dragons having fire breath, iron dragons breathing iron shards, etc.).
More than 400 years ago, dragons were the rulers of the land and humans were considered to be merely a food source for them. In the east, specifically the continent of Ishgar, dragons lived in harmony with humans, while in the western countries Dragons were vile and attacked them. In the Kingdom of Dragnof, 400 years ago, Dragons and humans were known to be living in peace, while western Dragons lacked the intelligence that eastern Dragons possessed and actively sought after humans as food. As the makings of an intense war were beginning to form between these two factions of dragons, Irene Belserion (mother of Erza Scarlet), known in her country as the "Queen of Dragons", came up with the idea for Dragons to be able to pass on their Magic in order for humans to aid them in the war, later being known as Dragon Slayer Magic, a plan she was aided in by the sage dragon Belserion, whose name she carried. However not all humans at that time could maintain their sanity for long as three different adverse side effects began to contaminate the Dragon Slayers, including Irene. Dragon Slayers became prone to motion sickness as a result of their magic, were prone to becoming mentally unstable and insane, and eventually would undergo the process of Dragonification, which would eventually turn them into dragons through overuse of their magic.
As war began to materialize, an unknown dragon proposed a truce between them, believing both species could live in harmony. This soon led to a civil war known as the Dragon King Festival between both factions: the pro-human dragonss and their opposites. Eventually, the humans who were taught magic by the dragons were requested to join the war. Before long, the tide of the war shifted into the favor of the pro-coexistence faction. However, both sides overlooked a potential threat: the humans who were taught Magic by the Dragons. Many dragons were slain, and thus, the humans involved took on the moniker of Dragon Slayers. Into this war came a genocidal Dragon Slayer that killed many dragons both friend and foe alike, and bathed in their blood, turning into a dragon himself: the dreaded Black Dragon and self-proclaimed Dragon King, Acnologia, who would go on to murder all other dragons he could find and steal their souls with his magic. All other facts and stories about dragons were collected in one book: Dragon Historia. One story in said book recounts the tale of Acnologia, and his single-handed destruction of an entire nation.
On July 7, X777, all the remaining Dragons of Ishgar except Acnologia and Irene Belserion seemingly vanished; most notably, Igneel, Metalicana, Weisslogia, Skiadrum, and Grandeeney, who each abandoned their young foster children, Natsu Dragneel, Gajeel Redfox, Sting Eucliffe, Rogue Cheney, and Wendy Marvell respectively, leaving the species to be remembered as little more than a myth. However, this was revealed, as per the word of Igneel, to have been due to the dragon parents of the young Dragon Slayers not wanting them to eventually turn into Dragons like Acnologia had done. In order to prevent this, they used a special and sacred magical technique to hide inside the bodies of their foster children, which allowed them to create antibodies to prevent their "Dragonification". They also did this to extend their own lifespan, having been left in a half-dead state after their souls were taken by Acnologia's Dragon Slayer Magic. Thirdly, seeking to stop Acnologia, they waited until they had recovered enough to attack and kill the black dragon once and for all. In addition to this, Weisslogia and Skiadrum modified their foster children' memories, causing Sting and Rogue to believe that they had killed their dragon fathers. Natsu however continued to search for Igneel for many years as did Wendy for Grandeeney.
The Wizard known as Daphne, a crazy female mage who wanted to control and show the power of dragons to the world after seeing one as a child, eventually lured in and trapped Natsu and Wendy, and used him as the power source for a huge mechanical dragon called a Dragonoid. However, with aid from his friends Natsu was able to destroy machine and defeat Daphne. A similar dragon-esque machine called the Dorma Anim existed in the parallel world of Edolas, where it was used to try and siphon all the world's magic power for its pilot, King Faust, who coveted all magic for himself. The Dorma Anim was constructed of a magical Lacrima called Wizard Canceler, and could only be damaged by Dragon Slayer magic. The machine was destroyed in a fight between Faust and the combined might of Natsu, Wendy, and Gajeel during their mission to rescue their guild from Faust's attempts to destroy them in order to extract their magic power. be457b7860
