My name is Ross Dickie and I am a PhD researcher looking at the application of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning to Reliability Theory to help assess and predict engineering systems failure (Engineering Prognostics).
I am currently part of the Smart Systems Group at Heriot Watt university carrying out my PhD through the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Embedded Intelligence (CDT-EI) and work with industrial sponsor MacTaggart Scott who specialise in highly robust and high power density hydraulic systems.
My academic background started with a BEng(Hons) in Electrical & Mechanical Engineering from the University of Edinburgh followed by an MSc with distinction in Renewable Energy & Distributed Generation from Heriot Watt university. I have industrial experience from many years of work in the mechanised commercial forestry harvesting sector.
Outside of work I enjoy cycling, running, swimming, surfing, climbing, hiking, motorcycling and travelling.
