“Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time.”
Rosemaling Coast to Coast (RCC) is proud to present the 2019 Class Schedule for you to review and select classes that will assist you on your Rosemaling journey.
For those individuals that have never Rosemaled or feel that they need to refresh their skills, we are offering a Pre-beginning Rosemaling class on Monday from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. This is a perfect way for you to start the 2019 Convention off on the path to success.
We listened to the comments from the 2018 Convention and this year we have a diverse selection of Acrylic and Oil classes that are available for you to take. Please note that many classes encourage painters from both the Acrylic and Oil ‘worlds’. We have asked students to use only walnut (alkyd) or safflower oils while in class. RCC will be providing the brush cleaners for the oil class and we will be providing Gamblin Gamsol (odorless mineral spirits). This product works well for students that have no tolerance for other mineral spirit products on the market. We ask that you keep this product sealed during class and only use when cleaning your brushes.
Under ‘supplies’, for each of the classes offered, you will note that you are being asked, by each instructor, to supply your own brushes. Some of the instructors will be offering brushes for sale. Others are suggesting that you bring brushes from your own collection. In all cases, it will be up to the student to bring or purchase the brushes to be used during the class. All other supplies (woodenware, paint, medium, etc.) will be supplied by the instructor and the cost is included in the class fee. You might wish to bring a notebook, apron (or other protective clothing) or other items that you like to work with while painting. The class rooms have good lighting.
You will note that this year, many of the class offerings are 7 hour classes. This will allow you more time to work with the instructor without worrying about getting to the next class and trying to fit in lunch.
Each instructor will be in the same room for the duration of the 2019 Convention.
This year we will have a number of ‘make-it-and-take-it’ classes. These classes will be conducted by the Coulee Region Rosemalers. The classes will be in Marty’s on Monday afternoon and Tuesday morning. There is no charge for these special events.
We want you to enjoy and learn from your class experiences at our convention. The instructors have indicated the level of each piece and the objective of the class. It is important that you determine your level of expertise when selecting classes. If you are selecting a class with a medium in which you are not familiar, it is advisable to select a class at the beginning level.
Selecting classes beyond your level creates hardship on you, other class members and the instructor:
B – Beginner—Taught at a slow pace with teacher assistance
I – Intermediate—Taught at a moderate pace with some assistance
A –Advanced—taught at a faster pace with little assistance
IS- Intensive Study—for the very advanced painter in the medium presented
Paints, mediums and prepared projects will be provided in all classes unless otherwise stated. Brushes needed for a class will be listed with “supplies”. Please bring your regular painting supplies. Class fee includes teacher fee, surface/project fee plus sales tax.
If you have any questions about the classes, please contact: Jill Willems at firstname.lastname@example.org or phone 715-445-2520
