Master Mason Apron, 1896 Probably North Adams, Massachusetts Gift of Mrs. Mabel Roberts, 84.70.2
This apron presents a common arrangement of Masonic symbols made out of uncommon materials. The symbols were cut out of sheets of metal—primarily silver and brass, some of it colored—that was engraved with details. Metal tabs that go through the leather fix the emblems to the apron. This apron belonged to Erwin J. Roberts (1869-d. after 1930). Roberts worked in the restaurant business in North Adams, Massachusetts, and was a member of Lafayette Lodge in the same town.
