If you want a custom, odor-free solution with integrated backrest protection for your Honda Pilot during tailgating season, choose Rongtaod Trunk Mat; if you need a rugged, heavy-duty rubber shield that handles rough terrain and spills without cracking for your Chevrolet Malibu, choose OPRMCCIHS Car Boot Liner.
• Rongtaod Trunk Mat: Its biggest strength is the specialized TPE construction that fits the 2016–2026 Honda Pilot perfectly while including a segmented backrest protector to keep pet hair and dirt off the seats. The trade-off is that it requires cutting specific holes for the backrest and may need sun exposure to flatten out if creased during shipping. This pick is for Honda Pilot owners who prioritize a clean, odor-free interior and complete coverage from floor to seat back.
• OPRMCCIHS Car Boot Liner: Its biggest strength is the heavy-duty rubber build designed to resist cracking under heavy loads and handle extreme weather conditions on any Chevrolet Malibu from 2015 to 2018. The trade-off is a simpler, flat design that lacks the extended backrest coverage found in the competitor's model. This pick is for drivers who prioritize durability, spill resistance, and a no-fuss installation for daily hauling or outdoor adventures.
The Rongtaod Trunk Mat is engineered specifically for the Honda Pilot models spanning 2016 through 2026, and its design philosophy centers on comprehensive interior preservation. Unlike generic mats that simply cover the floor, this unit includes a dedicated backrest mat that sits behind the third-row seats. This feature is critical for families or individuals who frequently fold down rear seats for extra cargo space. Because the backrest protector is segmented, it allows the seats to fold down smoothly without tearing the liner, ensuring that the entire trunk area remains protected from pet hair, mud, and general grime.
Material choice plays a significant role in why this product stands out for certain buyers. Constructed from high-quality TPE (Thermoplastic Elastomer), the mat offers high strength and resilience while remaining environmentally friendly. A major advantage of TPE over traditional rubber or vinyl is the absence of harmful odors. If you have ever opened a car trunk only to be hit by a strong chemical smell from a new accessory, you know how important this is. The Rongtaod mat ensures a healthier environment for passengers, which is a decisive factor for those who spend time in their vehicle or use it for activities like tailgating where fresh air matters.
Installation is straightforward, relying on Velcro attachments on the back of the liner to secure it to the seat backs without requiring any tools. However, potential buyers should be aware that the backrest section has reserved holes intended for customers to cut according to their specific needs. This customization aspect adds value but requires a bit of patience during setup. Additionally, if the mat arrives with creases from packaging, the manufacturer suggests letting it sit in the sun to restore its flatness. This is a minor inconvenience that most users can manage easily, especially given the comprehensive protection the mat provides once installed.
This product is ideal for Honda Pilot owners who want a "set it and forget it" solution that covers every surface prone to damage. It is particularly well-suited for those who carry pets, sports gear, or camping equipment regularly. The inclusion of the backrest cover means you don't have to worry about dirt transferring from the cargo area to the upholstery when you fold the seats down. However, if you drive a vehicle other than the specified Honda Pilot years, or if you prefer a one-piece rubber sheet without the complexity of cutting and fitting backrest sections, this might not be the right fit.

The OPRMCCIHS Car Boot Liner takes a different approach, focusing on raw durability and simplicity for the Chevrolet Malibu 2015–2018. Made from heavy-duty rubber, this mat is built to handle the rough stuff. The material is selected for its ability to resist spills, stains, and wear over many years of use. If your driving habits involve frequent transport of muddy boots, wet dogs, or construction tools, the rubber composition offers a robust barrier that is less likely to tear or degrade compared to softer materials. The "flat" design ensures it follows the floor contours of the Malibu trunk, providing edge-to-edge coverage that holds firmly even during sharp turns.
One of the standout features of this liner is its ease of maintenance. The rubber surface is designed to wipe clean in seconds, making it perfect for busy lifestyles where quick cleanup is essential. The description highlights that the mat stays tough for years of use and resists cracking under heavy loads, which implies a long lifespan even in harsh environments. Whether it is snow, rain, or summer heat, the product is built to last through the seasons. This resilience makes it an excellent choice for anyone who uses their vehicle as a workhorse or for outdoor enthusiasts who do not mind a utilitarian look in exchange for maximum protection.
The installation process is described as taking just seconds, with no tools required. You simply drop the liner into the cargo area, and it stays put. There is no need to cut holes or align complex segments, which reduces the risk of user error during setup. The mat also folds away easily for quick cleaning, allowing you to remove it entirely if you need to wash the trunk floor itself. This flexibility is a significant advantage for owners who want a low-maintenance solution that doesn't require precise measurements or modifications before use.
However, the OPRMCCIHS liner is a flat tray, meaning it does not extend up the backrests of the seats. If you frequently fold down the rear seats or have pets that climb onto the back cushions, you will need to rely on separate protectors for those areas. It is strictly a floor-level solution. Therefore, this product is best suited for drivers who primarily store items on the trunk floor and do not need vertical protection. It is also limited to the specific fitment of the 2015–2018 Chevrolet Malibu, so it will not work for other makes or model years. For those who value a rugged, no-nonsense protector that can take a beating, this is a solid option.
• Best for Complete Interior Coverage → Rongtaod Trunk Mat: Includes both floor and backrest protection, ideal for keeping the entire cargo area clean.
• Best for Heavy-Duty Durability → OPRMCCIHS Car Boot Liner: Heavy rubber construction resists cracking and wear better under extreme heavy loads.
• Best for Odor-Free Environments → Rongtaod Trunk Mat: TPE material ensures no harmful smells, unlike some traditional rubber products.
• Best for Quick Cleanup → OPRMCCIHS Car Boot Liner: Wipes clean in seconds and folds away easily for washing.
• Best for Custom Fitment (Honda Pilot) → Rongtaod Trunk Mat: Specifically molded for 2016–2026 models with reserved cut-out holes for seat functionality.
• Best for Simplicity (Chevy Malibu) → OPRMCCIHS Car Boot Liner: Drop-in installation with no tools or cutting required.
• Best for Pet Owners (Foldable Seats) → Rongtaod Trunk Mat: Segmented backrest prevents dirt transfer when folding seats down.
• Best for All-Weather Resilience → OPRMCCIHS Car Boot Liner: Designed to hold up under heavy loads and resist cracking in all seasons.
When I weigh the options between these two distinct solutions, my decision comes down to the specific needs of the driver and the vehicle they own. For those looking to upgrade their Honda Pilot for tailgating or family trips, I would buy the Rongtaod Trunk Mat. The inclusion of the backrest protector is a game-changer; it solves the common problem of dirt migrating from the trunk to the seats when you fold them down. The TPE material also guarantees a pleasant interior environment, free from the chemical odors often associated with cheaper rubber mats.
Conversely, if you drive a Chevrolet Malibu and prioritize a rugged, indestructible floor shield that requires zero assembly, the OPRMCCIHS Car Boot Liner is the logical choice. Its heavy-duty rubber construction is clearly built to withstand abuse, and the simple drop-in design saves time. However, for a complete protection package that addresses both the floor and the seat backs, the Rongtaod offers a more thoughtful engineering solution for its target vehicle. Ultimately, the Rongtaod Trunk Mat wins for me because it anticipates the full range of cargo scenarios, from dirty gear to folded seats, offering peace of mind that a simple floor tray cannot match.
Yes, both products are designed for tool-free installation. The Rongtaod mat uses Velcro to attach to the seat backs, though you may need to cut the reserved holes yourself. The OPRMCCIHS liner simply drops into place and stays put without any adjustments.
The Rongtaod Trunk Mat is made from TPE, which is explicitly noted as being free from harmful odors.
Absolutely for the Rongtaod Trunk Mat, as its backrest section is segmented specifically to allow the seats to fold down without damaging the liner. The OPRMCCIHS liner covers only the floor, so it works fine regardless of seat position but offers no protection for the seat backs themselves.
The OPRMCCIHS Car Boot Liner is marketed as a heavy-duty rubber mat built to resist cracking under heavy loads and spills. While the Rongtaod is also protective, the OPRMCCIHS emphasizes its toughness and ability to hold up under rigorous conditions for years.
