I had a brief run of listening to audiobooks when I had a long car commute in bumper to bumper traffic, but then the pandemic started and now I have no commute. Yay? I tend to mostly consume my romance in text, but for a variety of reasons some romance readers love audiobooks!

There are lots of benefits of audiobooks (hrm, in fact a lot of them are also benefits of podcasts, just saying, no ulterior motive) - but one potential issue is that you're adding in one more variable to the artistic equation: the narration performance. A ho-hum narrator can ruin a fantastic swoony romance, and a fabulous narrator can enhance it and take it up another notch.

Honestly, I found ACOTAR a fun read, but I was a worried about toxic masculinity/dubious consent in the series. Is it just me? This actually makes me hesitant to explore new romance (especially in a fantasy setting) novels.

Thanks for sharing. I would like to read romance novels, but being single, I feel lonely and sad when I read them, thus they are anxiety inducing for me. Perhaps if I do find someone with whom to share my life I will enjoy them more.

The novels are available on Kindle and Kindle Unlimited. Sauce for the Gander is also available as an audio book. (If the links here do not work for your country, click on the links on the main book page.) The four full-length novels are also available as a box set (ebook and KU only).

KELLY: OK. So she's at a crossroads in her career. She gets a request out of the blue to narrate a romance. And she is not happy about this because she doesn't really like romance, the whole genre. But meanwhile, she is paired to read with a male audiobook narrator who turns out to be pretty dreamy. Did you write a novel that pokes fun at romance but is itself a romance?

Sometimes listening to a book instead of reading it can result in a completely different experience! Romance novels are my favorite type of audiobooks since the experience truly brings the witty banter and tension to life! So many of the characteristics I love about romance translate beautifully to audio.

The easiest place to find audiobooks is Audible or Libro.fm. I personally love recommending Libro.fm since they support indie bookstores everywhere and it costs the same as Audible! You can even choose the specific local bookstore you want to support.

Hey there! I'm Rachel Kamery, a lifelong reader who devours fast-paced, fun, escapist books. I'm sharing my best book recommendations that will bring joy (and maybe a little romance!) to your reading life!

Kevin: People have always loved romance novels, but social media has given us a place to talk about them and introduce them to a whole bunch of new readers. As these videos go viral, they have a reach that book marketing never had before.

Kevin: I love audiobooks because of how convenient they are for anyone who is busy and on the go. You can listen to them while you drive, cook, clean, etc. Plus, it makes books feel so immersive. My first audiobook experience was Harry Potter when I was in elementary school, and I have been obsessed with audiobooks ever since. Also, they help me focus. I love to read a physical book while listening to the audiobook for full immersion, and to cut out everyday distractions.

Several of my books are now available in audio on a wider number of vendors, including Chirp, Overdrive, and Libro.fm. Titles available include The Worth Saga (Once Upon a Marquess, Her Every Wish, After the Wedding), The Cyclone Series (Trade Me, Hold Me) and The Duke Who Didn't. All of my books remain available in audio on Audible.

Courtney Milan writes books about carriages, corsets, and smartwatches. She acquired a ridiculous amount of education, and then six months after graduating with her law degree, decided to use all her education to write romance novels. This was a brilliant decision. Responsible for ?and ?.

Thanks for sharing! A good audiobook narrator can make or break the listening experience for sure.

My fave is probably Juliet Stevenson. Her narrations of the various Jane Austen novels make them so much more accessible.

Ebooks have not swept away traditional tomes the way streaming services for music, movies, and TV shows have slashed sales of discs. Physical book sales are booming, but ebooks and audiobooks have a dedicated, appreciative audience. If you love to read, an ebook subscription service is a great way to discover new titles, find recommendations, and read more indie books. We tried out several of the most popular options, delving into their available libraries, apps, and features to determine the best ebook subscription services and audiobook subscriptions for different people.

The big five publishers (Penguin Random House, Hachette, Macmillan, HarperCollins, and Simon & Schuster) dominate the bestseller charts in the US but have had limited dealings with ebook subscription services so far. Current best-seller lists are not well represented, and the modest list of mainstream hits that appears mostly comprises older titles. Whatever service you are considering, we advise browsing the available library of ebooks and audiobooks before you commit.

Spotify tops our best music streaming services guide with slick performance, handy music discovery algorithms, and an expansive library of over 100 million tracks and 5 million podcasts. Open the audiobook hub, and you will find many best sellers (Spotify says 70 percent of bestselling titles) and titles from the big five publishers alongside audiobooks from independent publishers and authors. As with music, there are curated recommendations, categories, and playlists.

Bookmate: While it boasts a large library of ebooks, audiobooks, and comics, many are out of copyright. There's a seven-day free trial, then it costs $10 per month, but the choice is not as varied as with Scribd.

Growing in popularity, Broadbent's The Serpent and the Wings has strong similarities to The Hunger Games and ACOTAR (i.e., the trials set for Feyre by Amarantha). This is the first book in the Crowns of Nyaxia series and sets off into a world of powerful vampires and magical beings broken into warring classes, with humans at the bottom of the feeding line. Oraya is the adopted human daughter of the Nightborn vampire king and has grown from a girl into a woman keenly aware the world around her is designed to kill her. Her only chance to become immortal (and survive in her vampire-dominated world) is by entering the Kejari, a tournament held by the goddess of death herself, in which she will compete amongst cunning and vicious opponents from different vampire houses. She's forced into an alliance (very Under the Mountain vibes) with a mysterious rival, Raihn, who, like many of the males in the fantasy romance genre, is tall and roguishly handsome. The violent trials bring the two closer, while the more adult content doesn't happen until near the end of the book; it's worth the wait. Two books in the Crowns of Nyaxia series have been published, and four more are planned. 0852c4b9a8
