Judith pursued studies in Political Sciences, French Philology, and History at the Freie Universität Berlin. She subsequently completed her Master's degree at the same institution, specialising in the field of ancient history with a particular focus on Roman history. She wrote her PhD on exempla in Flavius Josephus' Antiquitates at the Universität Bern, under the supervision of Prof. René Bloch and Prof. emeritus. Ernst Baltrusch. Judith's research interests lie in the examination of the power dynamics that shaped Roman-Jewish relationships, as well as the ways in which these dynamics manifested in political and cultural contexts. She analyses the works of prominent authors such as Flavius Josephus to gain insights into their responses to, utilisation of, and engagement with these power dynamics.
Additionally, Judith's research interests encompass the Roman History of the late republican and early imperial periods, with a particular emphasis on discourses on virtus and exempla. She also studies Jewish-Hellenistic authors and Jewish-Roman, as well as Jewish-Greek, intercultural discourses.
As a postdoctoral member of the ERC project ROMANA, she will continue her research on Jewish-Roman intercultural discourses, with a specific focus on the field of law.
