Welcome! I am a Professor of Economics at the University of St.Gallen and a Research Fellow at CEPR, CESifo, and OxCarre.
I have broad interests in development, political, and public economics. My current research examines how to promote social cohesion and sustainable development in ethnically diverse countries and how search engines and social media shape political polarization.
My work has been published in the Quarterly Journal of Economics, American Economic Review: Insights, American Economic Journal: Economic Policy, Journal of Development Economics, Journal of Public Economics, and PNAS, among other journals. It has been featured by international media outlets such as Al Jazeera, BBC, Economist, Guardian, Le Monde, NZZ, and Washington Post.
For more information, please see my CV (in pdf) or send me an email.
