Roland Hodler

Welcome! I am a Professor of Economics at the University of St.Gallen and a Research Fellow at CEPR, CESifo, and OxCarre. 

I have broad interests in development, political, and public economics. My current research includes projects examining how federal designs can promote development and stability in diverse countries and how digital platforms shape individual attitudes and political polarization.

My work has been published in journals such as Nature, PNAS, Quarterly Journal of Economics, American Economic Review: Insights, and Journal of the European Economic Association, and has been featured in media outlets such as the BBC, The Economist, The Financial Times, The Guardian, Le Monde, and The Washington Post.
