If you want a lightweight, open-air headphone designed specifically for immersive digital piano practice where hearing your surroundings matters, choose Roland RH-A7-BK; if you need professional-grade noise isolation, enhanced bass response, and a secure in-ear fit for live performance or loud environments, choose BASN Bsinger 2nd.
• Roland RH-A7-BK: Offers an open-back design that preserves natural sound nuance and allows interaction with teachers, but provides zero isolation from ambient noise.
• BASN Bsinger 2nd: Delivers exceptional sound isolation with memory foam tips and deep bass, though its in-ear form factor isolates you completely from the room.
• The Verdict: Pick the Roland RH-A7-BK for silent home studio sessions and piano students; pick the BASN Bsinger 2nd for musicians needing to block out stage noise or commute.
The Roland RH-A7-BK is built around a specific philosophy: silent practice should not mean losing the character of your instrument. This open-air monitor headphone utilizes a 40mm dynamic driver to reproduce a wide dynamic range, capturing everything from shimmering highs to commanding bass frequencies. The open-back enclosure is not just an acoustic choice; it is a functional one. Because the earcups are not sealed, air flows freely, keeping your ears cool during long practice sessions. More importantly, this design ensures that if you are learning from an instructor, they can still hear your playing and speak to you without shouting.
The physical build prioritizes comfort above all else. Weighing in at 16 ounces, the unit features soft suede-finish earpads that rest over the ear rather than inside the canal. This makes it ideal for adults who plan to wear headphones for hours while working through complex pieces on a modern digital piano. The headband and clamping force are tuned to provide a secure fit without the pressure points often found in tighter, closed-back models. You get a stereo mini plug included, along with a 1/4-inch adapter, ensuring compatibility with standard audio outputs and piano jacks.

However, this product has a clear limitation. It offers no noise control. If you are trying to practice late at night in a shared apartment or in a noisy coffee shop, the sound will leak out, and external noise will leak in. It is not designed for blocking out distractions. Instead, it is designed for transparency. If your goal is to hear every subtle pedal movement and hammer strike of your keyboard while maintaining a comfortable connection to the room, this is the tool for you. But if you need to shut out the world to focus on a mix or a recording, this open format will frustrate you quickly.
The BASN Bsinger 2nd Generation takes a completely different approach, aiming for the needs of touring musicians and performers who require absolute focus. These are in-ear monitors (IEMs) featuring dual dynamic drivers housed in a resin shell. The design intent here is precision and isolation. By utilizing memory foam eartips and a tight seal within the ear canal, these earphones can block up to 40 dB of ambient sound. This isn't just about volume; it is about clarity. In a loud environment, such as a stage with drums or a busy street, the ability to isolate the signal allows you to hear the nuances of the mix without cranking the volume to dangerous levels.
Sound quality is tuned toward a warm, rich mid-range and enhanced deep bass, which is critical for monitoring systems where low-end detail can be lost. The inclusion of two distinct types of eartips—silicon sleeves for longevity and memory foam for maximum isolation—gives the user flexibility depending on their daily use case. The cable is a standout feature as well. It is a detachable OFC wire with silver plating and an MMCX connector system. This means if the cable wears out or gets damaged, you do not have to replace the entire headset; you simply swap the cord. The length of roughly 52 inches also provides significant slack for movement during a performance.
This headset is heavier in terms of technology density, weighing only 20 grams, but the experience is more intrusive physically due to the in-ear placement. It is not meant for casual listening where you might want to hear someone walking by. It is a tool for immersion. Whether you are tuning into a specific cue in a full band mix or commuting on a train, the seal creates a private audio space. However, this comes with the trade-off of less situational awareness. You cannot talk to a teacher or a friend without taking them out, and the "closed" nature of the fit might feel hot or uncomfortable for some users who prefer the breathability of over-ear designs.
• Best for battery life → Neither requires batteries as both are wired, but the BASN Bsinger 2nd includes a longer 52-inch cable for greater freedom of movement on stage.
• Best for hearing instruction → Roland RH-A7-BK wins decisively; its open-back design lets a teacher hear you and speak to you simultaneously.

• Best for extended comfort → Roland RH-A7-BK uses breathable suede pads that prevent heat buildup better than in-ear seals.
• Best for bass response → BASN Bsinger 2nd uses dual dynamic drivers and acoustic chambers to deliver deeper, more controlled bass.
• Best for durability and repair → BASN Bsinger 2nd features a detachable MMCX cable, allowing for easy replacement of worn wires.
• Best for switch gaming → For those looking for the best extra bass headset for switch, the BASN Bsinger 2nd offers the isolation and bass needed for mobile gaming.
• Best for portable studio work → Roland RH-A7-BK is lighter and easier to pack, offering a wider soundstage for critical listening in small spaces.
After analyzing the specifications and intended use cases, I would buy the Roland RH-A7-BK if my primary focus was digital piano practice or home recording where interaction and natural sound are paramount. The open-air design solves the problem of feeling isolated while practicing, and the 40mm drivers provide the necessary fidelity for nuanced music. However, if I were stepping onto a stage or needed to block out a chaotic environment to hear my mix clearly, I would immediately switch to the BASN Bsinger 2nd. Its dual drivers and sound isolation capabilities make it the superior choice for professional monitoring. Ultimately, the decision hinges on whether you need to hear the room or hide from it. For the specific need of finding the best headset for switch that balances gaming immersion with isolation, the BASN Bsinger 2nd edges out due to its bass profile and seal, but for general musical practice, the Roland remains unmatched in comfort and acoustic honesty.
No, both the Roland RH-A7-BK and the BASN Bsinger 2nd are wired devices. They connect via a 3.5 mm jack, though the BASN model includes a 1/4-inch adapter for broader compatibility.

Absolutely. The BASN Bsinger 2nd uses a detachable MMCX connector system, allowing you to easily swap out the cable for a custom one if it becomes damaged.
The Roland RH-A7-BK is ideal for night practice because its open-back design prevents the "tunnel vision" feeling of closed headphones, allowing you to play comfortably without feeling trapped.
