Welcome to my academic website. On this page, you will find my current research activities pertaining to development of functional cardiac tissues using 3D Bioprinting and other projects I am working on. I hold a PhD in bioengineer with 5+ years of expertise in 3D bioprinting, bioink formulation, and microphysiological systems (MPS) for drug screening and regenerative medicine. Proven innovator with 2 patent-pending inventions and strong publication record. Specializing in bridging academic research with industrial application through translational tissue models.
My research focus was the development of functional 3D Bioprinted cardiac patches and designing novel bioinks for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. I am also working on modelling vasculature within bioprinted structures. My research interests are cardiac tissue engineering and the use of nature-derived biomaterials & nanotechnology for cardiac regeneration therapy and microfluidics for in vitro modelling.
Currently, I am developing and honing expertise in 3D Bioprinting, Confocal microscopy techniques, Fluorescence microscopy techniques, culturing of Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells and differentiation towards cardiac lineage, rheology of hydrogels, and non-destructive mechanical testing of hydrogels.
I obtained a Master's of Science in Biomedical Engineering from FH Technikum Wien, Vienna Austria and had the opportunity to intern at the Allgemeines Krankenhaus Der Stadt Wien on the development of automatic segmentation techniques of histology images.
I also hold a Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering from Monash University, Melbourne, Australia. As a mechanical engineer, I had the opportunity to intern with the Ford Motor Company of Australia and worked with a architectural glass processing company in Sydney where I was a maintenance and production engineer.
