Namaste (नमस्ते) and Hello,
I am from Nepal and presently reside in Jackson, Mississippi, with my wife.
Currently, I hold the position of Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Jackson State University. Prior to this, I spent nearly three years as a Research Scientist in El Paso, TX at Texas A&M AgriLife Research, which is affiliated with Texas A&M University.
Prior to that, I spent six years in Kyoto, Japan, where I accomplished my Ph.D. between 2014 and 2017. Subsequently, I worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher from 2017 to 2019, followed by a position as a JSPS Postdoctoral Researcher from 2019 to 2020 at the Disaster Prevention Research Institute (DPRI), Kyoto University.
My proposed concept, titled "Earth Observations to Decision-making (EO2DM) for sustainable agriculture and water, employing Bayesian modeling" was chosen as a finalist in the AIM for Climate Grand Challenge. This significant achievement occurred during the AIM for Climate Summit, held in Washington D.C. from May 8th to 10th, 2023, where the focus was on harnessing the capabilities of AI and machine learning to address climate-related issues.
I focus on hydrology and water resources engineering, and I am deeply engaged in conducting thorough research within these specialized domains. On a daily basis, my focus is directed toward effectively utilizing the potential of Earth Observations and Machine Learning techniques.
I take pleasure in exploring diverse datasets, ranging from citizen-science (CS) information to remote sensing projections derived from satellites. Additionally, I have a strong passion for cooking, savoring delicious meals, and embarking on journeys to various destinations.
