On Friday, May 9th from 3:45-6:30pm, Roosevelt students will walk laps around the school track to raise money for their school and promote physical activity. Funds generated from this event support PTO initiatives such as field trip costs, learning software subscriptions, classroom supplies, and much more.
Students collect donations for participating in the walk. If you do not wish to fundraise, you can make a family donation (suggested donation: $30 per student). Donations are NOT REQUIRED for students to participate.
Click here to register online. If you prefer to complete a paper registration form, contact your child's teacher. This form serves as your child’s permission slip and tells us how they will be checked out after the walk. Students will NOT be permitted to walk after school without a completed Registration Form. We ask that ALL students be registered by May 2nd.
Students received an envelope and brochure at the kickoff assembly with a pledge form to be returned to school with all donations by May 8th. Donations can be made in check or cash. We also accept online donations using PayPal or credit card here. Feel free to email out of town family and friends or share the information on Facebook. Please ask digital donors to include the name of the student(s) who should receive credit for the contribution.
Your child does NOT have to fundraise to walk in the walkathon, but in order to be eligible to win the Lap Raffle Prizes, your child must walk at least one lap.
Every student who raises $100+ will get to attend a donut breakfast and extra recess.. Students raising $250+ will be TEACHER FOR THE DAY with either Mr. Shirek (Phys Ed), Ms. Knade (Library) or Miss Horgan (Music). Those who raise $500+ will get to throw a pie at Mrs. Snyder-Chase (Principal)! There are also classroom prizes for the top 3 classes.
Rock The Walk will be entirely outside. We plan to hold the event even if it rains unless there is severe weather. Please make sure your child is dressed appropriately.
Every time your child completes a lap, they earn one entry to win the Lap Raffle Prizes: Hoverboard, Fire Tablet, Fidget Basket, Candy Tower and more! The more laps a student walks, the more chances to win! These prize winners will be announced at our Celebration Assembly on May 15th.
Students can still walk even if they have to leave early! The more laps students walk, the more entries they earn to win Lap Raffle Prizes. Walkers must be checked out according to their Registration Form. Lap Card must be turned in before leaving in order to receive lap prize tickets.
At 6:15pm we will draw raffle winners. Students who turn in a completed Registration Form or signed up online will get one entry for a new bike. Winners for the 50/50 and Basket Raffles will also be drawn at this time. The 50/50 raffle is the only one you must be present for to win. Basket raffle and bike raffle winners will be contacted after the event.
Families are encouraged to enjoy the event by walking laps with their student. We will have music, concessions, basket raffles, a 50/50 raffle, games, and of course the Roosevelt playground. Parents of kindergarten and 1st graders are strongly encouraged to accompany their student. While there will be adults at the event, children will not be directly supervised.
Seating will be extremely limited, so we encourage anyone who needs or wants to sit down to bring their own chair.
Yes! We will be selling Rock The Walk t-shirts for $10.50 (cotton blend) or $14.50 (dri-fit). T-shirts will be delivered to students a few days before the walk. Orders can be placed online here. Orders MUST placed by April 15th.
