What's the story?. First of all, in the old, old Days the term Rock and Roll meant to rock and roll in rough seas on a boat. Then later it got to be a slang for well let’s say a roll in the hay or hanky panky if you know what I mean.

Jimmie Preston (1913-1984) had a record with an up beat tempo and actually had the word “Rock” in the song. The song was “Rock the Joint” or “We’re Gonna Rock This Joint Tonight”. It is one of the first “Rockabilly” recordings if not the first. The record is definitely one of the contenders for the first rock and roll recording. It was later recorded by Bill Hayley and the Comets.

In 1954, Goree Carter recorded “Rock Awhile” and is a strong contender for the first rock and roll record.

His 1949 release of the “Fat Man” is widely regarded as the first million-selling rock and roll record. Two of his most famous songs are “Ain’t that a Shame” and “Blueberry Hill”.

A Crossover in music is a term in music when a piece of music appears on music charts for different types of music. For example, a song might be on music charts for both pop music and country music.
A Cover version is a recording or performance of a song that was previously recorded or made popular by another. Also called cover song. Could be a reinterpretation of a song.
A Remake is an attempt at reproduction playing the song the same way it was.
