Rock Hill Youth Poet Laureate

Angelo "Eyeambic" Geter is a dynamic poet, spoken word artist, and motivational speaker who merges his passions for poetry and speaking into a unique performance that educates, entertains, and inspires. 

Angelo’s work touches on a variety of issues including social justice, race, grief, character, and manhood. He blends his pieces with commentary, stories, and personal narratives that transcend a traditional lecture or performance. 

Throughout his career, Angelo has amassed several accolades. He is a 2020 Academy of American Poets Laureate Fellow, 2019 All-America City Award winner, 2018 National Poetry Slam champion, and finalist in both the Rustbelt Regional and Southern Fried Regional poetry slams. He has also performed and competed in several venues across the country. His work has appeared on All Def Poetry, Charleston Currents, and the Academy of American Poets "Poem-a-Day" series.

Genesis Medley is a bright college freshman and is eager to see what she can offer her community as Rock Hill's new Youth Poet Laureate.

During high school, Genesis achieved several notable accomplishments, including winning third place in the state for a short original play in her junior year and ranking in the top 10% of her class.

Genesis currently attends Converse University on a full scholarship, where she plans to major in theater and psychology. When she isn't writing poetry, she enjoys fashion, writing plays, and spending time with her family and friends. Genesis looks forward to the many opportunities that lie ahead and is excited for the meaningful impact she will make in the future.
