Construction work is starting on Monday 26th February 2018!
It’s an exciting time in Rochdale. Work to start building the new Rochdale Riverside retail and leisure development in the town centre will commence at the end of February.
The scheme will bring new shops and restaurants, including Next, M&S, Boots, JD Sports and River Island, to the town centre, as well as a 6-screen cinema and 350 parking spaces.
The scheme, next to the Metrolink stop, Transport Interchange and Number One Riverside, has been designed to link with the rest of the town centre and to complement shopping and leisure facilities already in the town.
The planned cinema and restaurants will be family focussed and help to boost the night time economy and complement a number of new establishments that have already opened up. The scheme will also include welcoming public spaces where people can enjoy to relax and unwind.
It’s time to put Rochdale on the map as a shopping destination not to be missed!
Road Closures and Parking Changes
To enable this exciting project to be constructed some of the temporary car parks will need to be permanently closed. These are:
• Zone A - Milton Street West (the old bus station site)
• Milton Street East (opposite Mecca Bingo)
• Zone C – Baillie Street
We will also need to implement some temporary and permanent road closures around the construction site. Please see the maps below which show alternative car park locations and access routes or visit our monthly updates to find out what work is taking place.
