Who is Robyn M?

Robyn M, a 15-year-old singer-songwriter from Manila, Philippines. She started her musical journey during the pandemic in 2021. Together with her parents and her younger brother, they formed a family band as a way to cope during the many months of quarantine. It was a fun way to spend quality time together and learn to play music. They covered artists such as The Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Beatles, Hole, Taylor Swift, Tracy Bonham, Francis M and many more. They documented their covers in their family YouTube page, The Jam House. What started out as a fun family bonding hobby, ended up inspiring Robyn to create her own music.

In 2023, by the time Robyn was 13 years old, she already had several fully formed songs that showed a lot of potential. Her parents decided to help her record them, converting their family room into a makeshift recording studio. They recorded all instruments and vocals and produced everything from their home. In February 2024, her first single, Summertime, was released on all streaming platforms. To date, Robyn has released 9 songs. Her 9th single was just released on September 19, 2025 entitled Daffodils.

Robyn gets her songwriting inspiration from various places. She taps into her own life experiences, but largely she gets inspiration from books that she reads. She writes a lot of her songs from the perspective of different characters and their experiences. This gives her lyricism and music a unique edge that conveys stories and emotions well beyond her years.

Her musical inspirations include - Paramore, Hole, Madds Buckley, David Bowie, Taylor Swift, Alanis Morisette and The Red Hot Chili Peppers. Locally, she is inspired by Nica del Rosario, Imago, Cynthia Alexander, Barbie Almabis, Reese Lansangan and Kitchie Nadal.

Aside from recording and releasing music, Robyn also performs at various gigs in venues around Metro Manila such as 19 East, SaGuijo Bar and Cafe, 12 Monkeys, 70s Bistro, Unknown 13, The Tiny Bar, Skinny Mike's, Aromata, Brewing Point and Red Rhino. Her family continues to support her as her band during gigs. Robyn on vocals and guitar, Dad Roman on lead guitar, Mom Justine on drums or bass and little brother Jonah on drums, bass or keyboards.

Robyn M’s debut song, "Summertime," has been chosen as a Semi-Finalist in the Teen Category of the 2024 International Songwriting Competition (ISC).

Robyn submitted "Summertime" shortly after its release last year, and after a year-long submission period, the semi-finalists were officially announced in February 2025. Out of hundreds of entries worldwide, only five artists from the Philippines made it to the semi-finals—making this recognition even more special.

The ISC is one of the most prestigious global songwriting competitions, dedicated to celebrating and discovering exceptional songwriting talent. To have "Summertime" recognized among such outstanding entries is truly humbling.

Robyn is deeply grateful for the support of her family, friends, and everyone who has listened to her music. She was honored to be part of this year’s selection.
