Speaker Bio: Prof. Andy Ruina's graduate education was in solid mechanics (in particular, friction) at Brown University. Those interests morphed into biomechanics, dynamics and robotics. Recently, he is primarily interested in the mechanics and control of underactuated motion and locomotion. His lab has made some of the most energy-effective walking robots. See ruina.org for more information.
