Within our earth we have several means of producing energy, solar, wind, natural gasses, coal, and even nuclear energy. one of the more underutilized & cleaner means of producing energy can be linked to the ocean with tidal and wave power. What is this mysterious means of generating new energy, an energy source that has the potential to generate at least 10% of the worlds energy? let us dive into this means of power to answer that.
Tidal & wave power comes from the ocean, more specifically it comes from the surge's of ocean waters during the rise and fall of tides. Why is tidal power such a marvel? According to researchers tidal power is more efficient than wind or solar energy due to its relative density and it produces no greenhouse gases or other waste. At the immediate moment there are very few tidal energy plants as this power source is still relatively new, the first tidal plant was made in La Rance, France & The largest facility is the Sihwa Lake Tidal Power Station located within South Korea. You'd think that the US would have a few but no, why is this? According to the National Geographic Society's article on tidal energy (last updated May 19th, 2022) "there are legal concerns about underwater land ownership and environmental impact. Investors are not enthusiastic about tidal energy because there is not a strong guarantee that it will make money or benefit consumers." to continue on in said article engineers are working to improve the technology for it to produce more energy, impact the environment less, and to find a way to earn a profit for said company's. Now doesn't that sound scummy? we have this new natural technology that can help us slowly better the environment and yes while it is noble that were not using it yet due to worry of environmental impact its still bad that a factor in this is financial profit. we shouldn't be under utilizing this new way to go green and lessen our own damages to the world all over money.
Hopefully in the near future we are able to utilize this new way to generate energy while lessening our own environmental damaging energy making ways.

"usurps tides coming from the Gulf of Saint-Malo on the Atlantic Ocean to turn its 24 turbines."
