Introduction/Background (Ocean knowledge)
When I initially began taking this class my knowledge of the ocean was little to none. As I grew up, I never really got to learn much about the ocean other than its sea life, modern and ancient. I do however know that the sea is a very important resource as most of our everyday items have some relationship to the ocean, be it either minor or major. Most sea life gives a very important helping hand when it comes to our lives but we also get other resources from the ocean like copper, nickel, cobalt, and gold or even other raw materials such as sand, gravel, and phosphorite. Unfortunately, due to human impact on the ocean, something I have learned more about prior to this class, we are slowly losing these resources that are important in our everyday lives. Habitat destruction, carbon emissions, chemical pollution, oil spills, noise pollution, plastic pollution, and overfishing to name a "few". The list of human interactions with the ocean is a long and horrible one, to be frank. There are good human interactions with the oceans that are happening currently to help in trying to save the ocean, though sadly this is one of those situations where the bad vastly out-weights the good here. It's truly tragic.
Goals and Objectives
S.M.A.R.T Goal for this class would definitely be
Study the source materials and work hard to achieve a reasonably good grade in the class and interact more with other students within the class.
Aim to break my procrastination and turn in work no more than a few days after It's due. perhaps 3 days or less to help in working harder but if anything pops up there is some leeway
As I mentioned earlier I want to work hard and study the source materials so I can easily learn the subject matter and get a reasonably good grade.
Employing these goals I will set for myself In hopes to better myself inside and outside of class.
Sometime before the end of October, I would like to be able to break that procrastination as I mentioned earlier.
The main method I'm going to try to employ to achieve these goals is to take responsibility for all of these assignments. I'm hoping that by being more responsible about my time and work so I'll be able to at least better my procrastination problems. On top of that, I do also want to try and impose my own deadlines as a means to set a "finish line" for all my work assignments, something that's generally a day earlier than the set deadline if there is one.
