What is the dress code?
We ask all participants to dress business casual where possible, but dressing a little more casual is alright as long as it maintains professionalism. This is not an exhaustive list, but it may be used to guide your decisions.
A nice pair of slacks and button up shirt will be just fine
Dresses and skirts are permitted as long as they reach at least the knee and still maintain professional standards
Dress shoes are expected
Blazers are encouraged, but not required
Ties are optional
National symbols such as pins with flags are not appropriate to wear at most MUN conferences but they will be allowed here, as are UN symbols such as SDG pins
What do I need to bring to RCMUN?
Please bring an electronic device that can connect to Google Drive as that is the platform that resolutions will be drafted on. A laptop computer is recommended, but any device will do. This conferences is all day, so you should bring a charger just in case.
You may wish to bring a pad of paper and writing utensils to take notes.
Water bottles and small snacks are allowed, and you will be able to refill water bottles.
I am a teacher/coach/supervisor and would like to watch the committee sessions. Is this allowed?
We welcome teachers/coaches to come to watch the committee sessions and see how their students do. We do ask that you let us know ahead of time if you plan to do so to allow us to ensure we have enough seating set up and so we can make you a nametag.
What is the food situation?
Brunch is provided as a part of registration. We will work with food allergies for that. Please email the Secretary General ahead of time with any food allergies that will need to be handled. Our dining hall staff are amazing at taking care of allergies, and will ensure that everyone gets food. Any other food outside of brunch will be on your own.
What is the parking situation?
Visitors will need to go to campus safety, next to the Bank Building, to get a parking pass, and the nearest parking lots are not far away.
Do delegations have to find their own housing accommodations?
Yes, delegations will have to find their own housing accommodations if overnight accommodations are necessary. We have compiled a list of nearby hotels here for your convenience.
Who do I reach out to with additional questions?
If you have any additional questions, please reach out by email to our Secretary General at kmmcelfresh@mail.roanoke.edu or the Faculty Advisor of the Roanoke College Model United Nations Club at vick@roanoke.edu.
