Horizon
Ambassador Program
Our Horizon Ambassador Program sets the stage for our students to lead conversations about who we are and what we value as members of our Cavalier famiily. Horizon Ambassadors are always ready to "don the blue jacket" and share their Cavalier and magnet experiences. Whether welcoming potential Horizon students and families, visiting middle schools, hosting movie nights, speaking at our ice-cream social, or assisting with other school events, our ambassadors view each opportunity as a moment to share what's good at RNE.
Students are recommended by Horizon teachers, and if selected to join the program must remain in good academic and disciplinary standing. Please contact Dr. Merriwether-Hawkins if you have any questions.

"The Horizon ambassador program is an amazing program that has taught me very important leadership skills. It has taught me the importance of teamwork, responsibility, and commitment. I think this is an amazing program because you are able to talk to other people about your horizon experience. It has also pushed me out of my comfort zone because through this program, I was able to meet new people."

"The Horizon program is 100% the reason I chose to attend RNE and I don't know how I would have made it through my first year of high school without it. The connections I have made within this program with both classmates and teachers has given me a support system like no other. Being at this school and in this program has exposed me to so many great opportunities that I wouldn't trade for the world."

"To me, being a Horizon Ambassador isn't just about the benefits/blazers. It's about wanting to set an example of the Horizon Program for students, parents, teachers, faculty and staff, and even different schools. It's about wanting to help out middle schoolers in their journey towards high school. But, most importantly, it's about wanting to be a leader. Wanting to go out of your way to help people out. That's what it means to lead and be a part of the inaugural group of Horizon Ambassadors. "

"The Horizon Magnet program and the Horizon Ambassador Program is everything to me. The magnet program is more than simply hard classes that challenge students to think more critically; it is also a family, with everyone being trustworthy and helpful at all times. The Horizon Ambassador Program encouraged me to use my voice to share my Cavalier experience. Horizon's approach allows students like me to express themselves authentically, making the program feel like a family. "

"Serving as a Horizons Ambassadors was truly an amazing experience, and I had a fantastic time. It offered me the opportunity to promote my school, and show off all of the unique aspects that make it special. It helped me improve my public speaking skills, and gave me the chance to collaborate with many of my peers. Horizons Ambassadors lets student get involved in their school, and lets them take on a role of responsibility that would otherwise not be available. The program is truly an awesome facet of the Horizons magnet."
